PEOPLE MOVES: Schroders, Neuberger Berman, Standard Chartered

Veteran fund manager to retire, while investment management firm hires head of Emea insurance

Schroders 

Fund manager Matthew Dobbs will retire in March 2021, having worked at Schroders for 40 years. 

Dobbs’ tasks will be taken on by Richard Sennitt who will look after the firm’s Asian Alpha Pus, Asia Pacific IT and Oriental Income IT funds. 

Neuberger Berman 

The independent investment management firm has hired Gilles Drukier as head of insurance solutions for the Emea region. 

He will be responsible for deepening client relationship across the insurance segment. 

Drukier joins from JP Morgan Asset Management where he was managing director for the fixed income insurance and pensions solutions group. 

Standard Chartered Private Bank

The private banking arm of Standard Chartered has recruited Kapil Poply and Guarav Gupta as managing director and senior client partner for the global southeast Asia community (GSAC), and as executive director and relationship manager for GSAC, respectively. 

Both Poply and Gupta are based in Singapore, and they used to work for UOB Private Bank. 

Poply was a senior team leader covering southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. 

Gupta used to work with ultra-high net worth non-resident Indians (NRIs) across the Middle East and southeast Asia as a senior client adviser. 

Legg Mason 

Legg Mason’s head of wealth management distribution and investment trusts, Joe O’Donnell, has left the firm after 13 years. 

The move follows Franklin Templeton’s acquisition of the business in July 2020. 

He was promoted into the newly created role from regional sales director in 2017. 

AMP 

David Murray has resigned as chairman of Australia’s AMP and stepped down from the board. 

Debra Hazleton replaces him as chair. 

Additionally, the chief executive of AMP Capital, Boe Pahari, has also resigned, but he will continue working at his previous level focusing on the firm’s infrastructure equity business. 

AMP chief executive Francesco Ferrari will take on the role of chief executive of AMP Capital on an interim basis until a successor is found. 

Pahari held the top job for less than two months, after being promoted on 1 July 2020. 

Jupiter Asset Management 

Jupiter has made two London-based hires in its Latin America and US offshore team, following the acquisition of Merian Global Investors. 

Susana Garcia, previously head of Iberian sales at Merian, takes on the role of director of sales for LatAm/Iberia. She will focus on the Uruguayan and Argentinian retail markets, as well as supporting her client base in Iberia. 

Andrea Gerardi joins as a senior sales executive, also from Merian, focusing on assisting clients in the entire region. 

Moneyhub 

Open finance platform Moneyhub recruited Todd Ruppert to join its advisory board. 

He brings over 40 years of experience in financial services and will help the further accelerate its growth plans. 

FSCA 

The South African regulator’s divisional executive of regulatory policy, Caroline de Silva, has resigned. 

She will step down from her position, effective from 31 October 2020. 

She currently has no plans for her next career move.
