HSBC Private Banking

The private banking arm of HSBC has promoted two people to lead two southeast Asian markets.

Ken Ng will become head for Singapore and Gary Goh will take on the role of head of Malaysia, effective immediately.

They replace Chow Shang-Wei, who held both positions before leaving the firm in April 2020 to join Deutsche Bank as head of wealth management for southeast Asia.

Ng has been at HSBC since 1995 and joined the private banking division in 2014. Before the promotion, he worked as a desk head.

Goh joined in 2019 from Standard Chartered where he served as a managing director.

AHR Private Wealth

Iain Ramsay has been hired as AHR’s chief investment officer.

He will be responsible for the UAE firm’s investment strategy, reducing risk, improving client returns and decreasing costs.

Ramsay previously held a similar role at GWM in Dubai.

JTC

The provider of institutional and private client services has promoted Dean Blackburn to chief commercial officer.

He takes over from Tony Whitney, who has retired after holding several executive roles in his 23 years at the firm.

Just Group

John Hastings-Bass will join the board of Just Group as chair and non-executive director, effective from 13 August 2020.

The appointment has been approved by the Prudential Regulation Authority.

Hastings-Bass succeeds Chris Gibson-Smith in both roles as he retires.

Bank of Asia

The Bank of Asia in the British Virgin Islands has hired Lisa Lou as president.

She was previously senior managing director, China country manager and Beijing branch manager at State Street Bank.

Wealthify

The UK-based online wealth manager has recruited Kyle Cox as head of fund research, based in Cardiff.

He was previously a manager at South African single family office Marr Holdings.

Cox will focus on ethical and sustainable funds.

C Hoare & co

C Hoare & co, the UK-based privately-owned bank, has hired Hayley Layt as a relationship manager in its Cambridge office.

This follows the opening of the branch in March 2019.

She joins from RBS where she spent over 15 years and was most recently a director of client management.

FSCA

The South African Financial Sector Conduct Authority has named Dube Tshidi as commissioner.

The appointment was greenlighted by minister of finance Tito Mboweni.
