UK-based advice firm Advanta Wealth has agreed a three-year partnership with the Rugby Players Association (RPA).
The Beech Tree Private Equity-backed wealth company will be delivering financial education and advice to all of the RPA members, ranging from Premiership Rugby squads to the England Women Red Roses, as well as retired players who are members of the RPA.
Mark Pearson, chief commercial officer at Advanta Wealth, said: “We are delighted to form this wealth management partnership with the RPA and to bring the knowledge of our advisers and our commitment to financial planning and education to the RPA’s members.
“Announcing this partnership at the start of the Six Nations championship and in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup is at an incredibly busy time for the squads. Ensuring that they have access to high quality advice ensures that their focus can be on the pitch and that their finances are in safe hands.”
Stuart Munday, RPA chief operating officer, added: “We are delighted to have agreed this significant partnership with Advanta Wealth, who join us as our official wealth management partner. Our values around financial planning and the wellbeing of players align closely with Advanta Wealth and we have no doubt that they will provide invaluable expertise to our members.”
Partnership
Advice firms partnering with sports bodies and teams in a bid to educate and serve players is not a new phenomenon.
In September 2022, English Football League club Cambridge United agreed a commercial partnership with Sussex-based financial advice firm Prosperity IFA.
A year prior, wealth management giant St James’s Place (SJP) joined the Professional Golfers Association’s (PGA) partnership programme as a principal partner.
