Financial advice-focused outsourcing firm Verve has partnered with Aberdeen Portfolio Solutions to launch a whitepaper on managed portfolio service (MPS) regulation.
Titled Managed Portfolio Services: Regulation and Opportunity, the whitepaper addresses a fast-growing corner of the advised market that has seen relatively little dedicated regulatory attention.
According to Verve, that is changing. The firm noted the FCA has sharpened its focus on how consumer duty is being embedded across the MPS distribution chain.
Firms need more than a comparison of cost and performance to justify their approach. They now need a ‘clear, defensible due diligence process’ Verve said.
The whitepaper sets out what is driving that regulatory attention, what a robust due diligence framework looks like in practice, and how getting it right can strengthen both a firm’s compliance position and its client proposition.

The whitepaper will roll out alongside a free one-hour webinar on Wednesday 23 September, from 11:00–12:00. It is open for registration on Verve’s website to financial advisers, advice firm owners, paraplanners and other finance professionals.
Darren Lowry, chief commercial officer at Verve, said: “MPS due diligence has moved from a box-ticking exercise to a real test of a firm’s compliance framework.
“This whitepaper gives advice firms a practical way to evidence that their approach holds up, both for their clients and for the regulator.”
