Ebi Portfolios has appointed Ed van der Walt as assistant portfolio manager.
He joins the firm from Weatherbys Private Bank, where he was involved in fund selection, investment committee papers, and the development of investment data and performance infrastructure.
Before that, he spent nearly a decade at Bloomberg, most recently leading a 14-person cross-asset strategy team across London and New York.
Van der Walt will support the management of £5.8bn in model portfolios for UK financial advisers. His role will include assisting in portfolio construction, fund selection and performance analysis.

He will also contribute to the investment team’s work across Ebi’s model portfolio service and its new global factor fund of funds.
Jonathan Griffiths, head of investment at the firm, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ed to Ebi, where his disciplined approach to portfolio construction will be an asset to the team. He is highly qualified and has extensive experience in helping investors understand and navigate markets.”
Van der Walt added: “The move to Ebi feels like a natural progression. Much of my career has been spent helping investors understand markets, portfolios and risk in real time, moving from financial journalism and cross-asset strategy at Bloomberg to investment research and portfolio oversight in private banking.”
