Hogan, who previously had a 24-year career at AIG, is expected to formally rejoin the company in October, AIG said, and he will become a member of the insurer’s executive commitee.

AIG is in the process of rebuilding its overseas business, after having had to sell operations in the wake of the global financial crisis in 2008.

Hogan’s successor at Zurich is Kristof Terryn, who assumes the role with immediate effect, Zurich said in a statement.

Terryn has been with the Switzerland-based insurance giant for nine years,  most recently as its group head of operations. He is also a member of its executive committee. He reports to company CEO  Martin Senn, and will be based in Zurich.

Until a successor for Terryn is found, his duties as head of group operations will be handled by Markus Nordlin, who is currently chief information technology officer, Zurich said.
