Savers ‘for too long, have been poorly served with high-cost, complex’ products

US giant Vanguard has launched a digital investment service for German retail investors.

Vanguard Invest Anlageservice will provide clients with a tailored investment portfolio based on their risk profile, using the company’s equity and bond funds.

The portfolio will be built for long-term wealth accumulation and modelled on Vanguard’s four principles of investing: setting clear goals, creating a balanced portfolio, controlling costs, and maintaining discipline.

As part of the Anlageservice, the firm will provide continuous and automated monitoring and rebalancing of the portfolio to maintain the appropriate individual risk profile.

The minimum investment figure is €5,000 (£4,173, $5,678) and there is a savings plan function with costs at €25 euros per month.

‘Poorly served’

Jesper Wahrendorf, head of Vanguard Invest, said: “Since entering the German market at the end of 2017, Vanguard has led the way in giving investors a fair deal through access to good-value, straight-forward, and high-quality investments.

“But today, we go one step further: Vanguard’s new service will help investors navigate Germany’s complex investment landscape. Vanguard Invest Anlageservice will provide investors with the tools and guidance they need to reach their financial goals and give them the best chance of investment success.”

Sean Hagerty, head of Vanguard in Europe, added: “For too long, investors have been poorly served with high-cost, complex investments. We firmly believe that our cost-effective and broadly diversified investment approach will appeal to German investors.

“Our new Anlageservice enables investors to make the right financial decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Going forward, we will also broaden our offer to serve investors that wish to build their own portfolios.”
