Johnson, who will relocate to Australia early in 2014, will oversee a team of four senior investment analysts and economists, the asset manager said.

Investment professionals in Vanguard’s investment strategy team are charged with developing and maintaining investment methodology and portfolio solutions for all Vanguard clients. The team provides research and commentary on topics such as portfolio construction, asset allocation and location, tax issues, and market and economic trends.

Johnson joined the Vanguard Group in 2000 working as a senior investment analyst in Vanguard’s portfolio review department where he was responsible for fund and manager oversight, due diligence on prospective managers, product management and development, institutional client services, and co-management of a team of investment analysts.

Pennsylvania-headquartered Vanguard Group has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. Globally, Vanguard manages more than USD2.4trn (£1.46trn) in mutual fund, separately managed account and exchange-traded funds.
