Bamber, who previously worked as sales manager at Scottish Mutual, will be responsible for growing VAM’s sales in Hong Kong, China and Japan which are three areas earmarked for strategic development in the business’s global plan. Over the last 12 months business volumes of its funds in Asia have more than doubled.

He will be working alongside Linda McLaren who will continue to be responsible for developing the business in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia – countries where VAM states that it has been experiencing rapid growth through its intermediary relationships.

During his career, Bamber has also held senior posts at Clerical Medical and Old Mutual International where he was responsible for business growth in Asia.

VAM entered the Asian market two years ago having secured Monetary Authority of Singapore registration, and it is expecting to receive Securities and Futures Commission registration in Hong Kong.

Nigel Watson, VAM sales director, said: “His appointment will enable us to develop further and offer greater levels of support to our business partners. Asia remains of high strategic importance to our global expansion plans."
