US visa services firm hires senior director for India

She will shift the firm’s focus to include advising high net worth families

Private investment and advisory services firm LCR Capital Partners has hired Shilpa Menon from Avendus Wealth Management as part of its push into the high net worth (HNW) space.

In her previous role, vice president of products and advisory, Menon was in charge of offshore solutions for HNWs and worked with international stakeholders to launch Avenudus’ first line of global investment products.

At Connecticut-based LCR, as senior director for India, Menon will be responsible for leading the shift from focusing on selling EB-5 projects to being an adviser to HNW families looking to move, expand or invest overseas.

More than a single solution

The EB-5 – employment-based fifth preference – is an immigrant investor visa programme created in 1990.

Menon said that “LCR paved the way for US immigration products in India when nobody was yet talking about them”.

But the EB-5 industry is changing, said Suresh Rajan, founder and executive chairman of LCR.

“Clients expect their financial partners to provide more than a single solution. When an individual of a family decides to move to the United States, they want a partner they can trust to help them through the whole transition.

“They want someone that can explain the financial details and make recommendations to make the move easier.”

Reporting to global chief executive Serman Baldwin, Menon will be responsible for LCR’s growth in India, including expanding and managing its channel partnerships and deepening LCR’s engagement with existing clients and prospects in the region.
