Stonehage Fleming

The international multi family office has named Johan van Niekerk as head of family office US.

He joined Stonehage Fleming in 2007 and, prior to his new appointment, served as partner and head of family office in Neuchatel, Switzerland.

Van Niekerk will be based in the Philadelphia office and report to Peter Rosenberg, head of North America.

Captrust Financial Advisors

Robert Miller has become chief financial officer of the advice firm.

He spent 17 years at Raymond James Financial in Tampa, Florida. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for the global equities and investment banking division of Raymond James & Associates.

Also, the wealth firm today has hired Marc Hermer as director of portfolio trading and implementation.

Prior to joining the firm, Hermer led the overlay investment strategy team at Merrill Lynch.

Both executives are based at Captrust’s headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Raymond James

Financial advisers Eric Cornell and Patrick Shea have joined the firm in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Joining Raymond James as Helius Wealth Management, the team led by Cornell and Shea includes branch associates Margaret Scaparotti and Alana Cornell, as well as client service associates Josefine Troneby and John Nelson.

The financial advisors and team members joined from Ameriprise Financial Services.

M&A

JTC

The financial services provider has bought US-based Sali Fund Services for an undisclosed sum.

Sali is a provider of fund services to the insurance dedicated fund and separately managed account market.

IDFs are investment vehicles that enable a broad range of alternative investment managers to provide institutions, family offices and high net worth individuals with a tax efficient vehicle to invest the long-term capital allocated through life insurance policies into alternative assets.

Focus Financial Partners

The partnership of independent, fiduciary wealth management firms has bought Florida-based The Ullmann Financial Group for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021, subject to customary closing conditions.

MAI Capital Management

The registered investment adviser (RIA) firm has acquired Storey & Associates (S&A) for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1985 by Harlan Storey who was later joined by Kevin Krakora, S&A offers financial planning services, as well as estate planning, retirement planning, debt management and tax planning services.

Storey and Krakora will each assume the role of senior wealth adviser and managing director at MAI. All other S&A employees will also join the MAI team.

This is MAI’s 14th acquisition since taking a minority investment in July 2017 from Wealth Partners Capital Group.

Beacon Pointe Advisors

The wealth firm has made its seventh acquisition of 2021 with the purchase of Stonegate Capital Advisors.

As the sole owner of Stonegate, Jameson Van Houten joins the existing team of partners and managing directors in the Arizona office as its sixth partner.

This office will coordinate with Beacon Pointe’s existing Scottsdale presence to best serve client needs in the Phoenix Valley and throughout the Southwest.

Alongside Van Houten, additional members will be joining Beacon Pointe including Sean Mahoney, Liam Powell, Todd Ruble, Joshua Lustbader and Patricia Lundquist.

Hightower

The wealth manager has made a strategic investment in Florida-based Landsberg Bennett Private Wealth.

Founded in 2012, Landsberg Bennett provides wealth management services to individuals and families seeking to grow and preserve their wealth.

Led by firm principals Michael Landsberg, Lew Bennett and Anthony Dubbaneh, the firm’s 14 employees include five advisers specialising in serving the financial management needs of retirees, physicians, attorneys, business owners and executives.

Landsberg Bennett also has two brands serving different client demographics: Landsberg Bennett focuses on ultra-high net worth and high net worth clients, while its sister brand, Hibiscus Investments, serves the needs of mass affluent clients with less than $1m (£740,000, €870,000) of investible assets.

Also, Hightower has helped facilitate a merger for its subsidiary Fairport Wealth with Harrisburg-based FMA Advisory.
Founded in 1981, FMA Advisory is run by founder and president Peter LaBella and managing partner John Klobusicky.

They serve business owners, executives, retirees, professional athletes, rising professionals, corporate retirement plans, nonprofits and charitable organisations.

Hightower’s Fairport Wealth, led by managing partners Heather Ettinger and Kenneth Coleman, serves executives, business owners and other affluent individuals.

The Mather Group

The wealth management firm has acquired California-based advice company Glikman/Associates.

Founded in 1990, Glikman/Associates is currently co-owned by Karen Glikman and MC Duboscq.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hub International

The global insurance brokerage and financial services firm has acquired the assets of Silverman Financial.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Miami, Florida, Silverman Financial is an independent financial planning firm, which specialises in retirement services, estate and tax planning and wealth management.

Marc Silverman, president and chief executive of Silverman Financial, and the Silverman Financial team will join Hub Florida.

Wealthspire Advisors

The group has bought Connecticut wealth manager Private Capital Group for an undisclosed sum.

Private Capital Group offers wealth management and retirement planning services.
