US in the news: Sequoia buys multi-family office

Sequoia Financial Group

The firm has entered into an agreement to acquire Zeke Capital Advisors for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction will create a firm with more than $15bn (£12.5bn, €14.1bn) in client assets.

Pennsylvania-based Zeke was founded in 2008 by fund manager Edward Antoian and is a multi-family office firm that provides generational family wealth management to individuals, families, and foundations.

The acquisition will double the size of Sequoia’s Family Wealth practice, both in assets under management and in client households, with the combined teams offering a range of services to ultra-high net worth families and institutions.

Zeke will begin operating under the Sequoia Financial Group brand on 1 March 2023.

Dynasty Financial Partners

The firm has agreed to acquire Florida-based wealth management consultancy firm TruClarity Management Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

Upon completion of the transaction, TruClarity president and chief executive Pamela Stross intends to join Dynasty as a consultant.

In addition to adding Stross, Dynasty intends to acquire TruClarity’s intellectual property and add select team members to the Dynasty team.

Hightower

The advice group strategic investment in Massacheusuts-based registered investment adviser (RIA) firm Bickling Financial Services.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With 14 employees, including five advisers, Bickling Financial Services provides wealth management and financial planning services.

Focus Financial Partners

The wealth group has made a minority investment in tech firm Luminary Platforms for an undisclosed sum.

Luminary, founded by David Barnard, Joe Lonsdale, Ian Lyons and Dave St Geme in 2022, offers trust and estate planning capabilities, enabling advisers to collaborate with their clients on designing, managing and reporting trust & estate strategies.

Mariner Wealth Advisors

The US wealth advisory firm has acquired the Arizona-based tax practice of Hopkins Tameron Hostal (HTH).

HTH provides tax, consulting, and wealth management services for individuals in various industries, including construction, real estate, manufacturing, hospitality, professional services, and technology.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

People moves

TIAA

The financial services firm has named Tara Latini as executive vice president and head of wealth distribution.

Latini is the former head of wealth and personal banking for HSBC USA in New York.

Northern Trust

Carlos Arrizurieta has been named president of the northeast region at the wealth manager.

Previously, Arrizurieta was senior vice president and senior managing director in Northern Trust’s Miami office.

Also, the wealth manager has appointed Gregory Irizarry as senior managing director in the Miami office.

During his 22-year career at Northern Trust, Irizarry has held a number of leadership roles, most recently serving as senior wealth strategist and manager.

Wealthspire Advisors

The RIA firm has appointed Channing Olson as head of integration and project management.

Olson has direct experience with Wealthspire’s integration process, having joined from an acquired firm, Private Ocean, and being actively involved in multiple integrations since joining.

Raymond James

Financial advisers Cynthiea Locala, Robert Krenz, Mark Ruby and Dominic Ruby have joined the firm.

Together, the advisers operate as Momentum Wealth Partners in Akron, Ohio and are joined by client service associates Letty Martinez, Erin Barr and Meaghan Spann.

Formerly, they were affiliated with UBS Financial Services.

Also, financial adviser Rob Bedinghaus has joined the firm in Ohio.

Bedinghaus, who operates as, Bedinghaus Wealth Planning, is joined by senior client service coordinator Susan Adams.

Previously, Bedinghaus was at Edward Jones.

Gratus Capital

The Atlanta-based wealth management firm has made a number of promotions and hires.

Christopher Casdia has been named chief compliance officer.

Adrian Chastain has been promoted to chief operating officer. Jay Bowen has been named director of financial planning.
