US in the news: Rockefeller bolsters private wealth arm

People moves

Rockefeller Capital Management

The financial advisory firm has made a number of hires.

The Linker Hodges Group, led by Douglas Linker and Noel Hodges has joined the firm’s New York office.

Both Linker and Hodges will serve as managing directors and private wealth advisers.

In addition to Linker and Hodges, the 10-person team joining Rockefeller includes:

  • First vice president and private wealth adviser John Rapport;
  • Vice president and trust and estate specialist Susan Lopresti;
  • Vice president and associate private wealth adviser Scott Breckenridge;
  • Vice president and analyst relationship manager Tracy Broderick;
  • Vice president and analyst relationship manager Anna Sama;
  • Associate vice president and senior client associate Jeannette Murillo;
  • Analyst and client associate Adi Mercado; and
  • Analyst and client associate Aimee Iorio.

Elsewhere at the firm, private wealth team The DW Group has joined Rockefeller.

The team is led by managing director and private wealth adviser Ann Wang, and vice president and private wealth adviser Jamie Durrani.

It has joined the firm’s San Francisco office from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

Wang and Durrani are accompanied by associate vice president and senior client associate Rebecca Auster, client associate June Mee Kim and client associate Summer Macallister.

The five-member team joins from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in San Francisco and provides wealth management guidance for high-net-worth individuals and families.

Raymond James

The wealth firm has hired financial advisers Ernesto Angueira, Eric Muñoz and Julio Revuelta to its Miami, Florida, office.

Angueira and Muñoz join Raymond James from UBS, where they previously managed approximately $300m (£242m, €276m) in client assets.

They are joined by investment portfolio associate Nicholas Suarez and client service associate Natalia Navarro and operate as Alianza Wealth Management Group of Raymond James.

Revuelta has been in the financial services industry for almost 30 years and joins Raymond James from Safra Securities, where he previously managed approximately $250m in client assets.

RBC Wealth Management

The firm has appointed an adviser team from Morgan Stanley to its recently opened St Louis office.

The Market Street Group comes to RBC Wealth Management managing approximately $500m in assets.

The team is composed of:

  • Robert Funke, senior vice president and financial adviser;
  • Peter Sadlo, senior vice president and financial adviser;
  • DeAnne Finn, investment associate; and
  • Amy Hustedde, registered client associate.

Fiduciary Trust International

The global wealth manager and wholly-owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton has hired Todd Stoller as regional managing director and senior portfolio manager.

He is based in Fiduciary Trust International’s office in Boca Raton.

Stoller was most recently senior vice president and senior client advisor at multifamily office Bessemer Trust in Palm Beach.

Laffer Tengler Investments

Fern Hailey has joined the asset manager as regional director operating out of Miami, Florida.

Hailey will oversee sales and business development activity for the southeast region of the US.

Prior to joining Laffer Tengler, Hailey held a senior vice president position at Regions Financial Corporation.

Keebeck Wealth Management

The wealth firm has hired financial advisers Steve Vujevich and Matthew Anderson.

Vujevich and Anderson previously worked at Merrill Lynch in Columbus where they managed $400m client assets.

M&A

Creative Planning

The registered investment adviser firm has acquired Kansas-based Sunrise Advisors.

Sunrise Advisors provides financial planning and investment management for clients with approximately $700m in assets under management.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cary Street Partners

The firm has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Virginia-based independent RIA company Waypoint Advisors.

Founded in 2001, Waypoint Advisors serves high net worth clients and foundations across the United States.

The combined firms will manage approximately $4bn in assets and provide wealth management solutions to individuals, families and institutions.

The transaction is subject to certain regulatory closing conditions and is scheduled to close at the end of June.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
