US in the news: Mariner Wealth Advisors makes first deal of 2022

Mariner Wealth Advisors

The wealth advisory firm has agreed to acquire Florida-based Arbor Wealth Management, marking its first deal of 2022.

After closing 14 acquisitions in 2021, the deal with Arbor Wealth Management continues to scale Mariner Wealth Advisors’ operations across the US, while expanding its presence in the southeast.

This is now the firm’s fifth office in Florida and first in the Destin area.

Arbor Wealth Management was founded in 2010 by Margaret McDowell; with sons Patrick and Andrew McDowell joining shortly thereafter.

It will assume the Mariner Wealth Advisors name when it joins the firm on 28 February 2022, and it will continue to operate business as usual with its current team in place.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

OneDigital Investment Advisors

The registered investment adviser (RIA) firm has acquired the assets of Generations Wealth Planning (GWP) for an undisclosed sum.

GWP is the third wealth management firm to join OneDigital in 2022.

The firm is based in Sarasota, Florida.

People moves

Raymond James

Todd Ferguson has been named as chief information security office.

Ferguson has spent over 20 years at Raymond James in roles ranging from network engineer to his most recent role as senior vice president of information security.

The firm has also hired financial advisers Dan Smith IV, Todd Bryant, Eric Carlson and David Pieronowski.

Operating as Signature Wealth Partners in Orlando, Florida, the advisers are joined by client services specialists Cathy Stockton, Diane Stallard and Elizabeth Hall.

The team was previously affiliated with MML Investors Services.

Also, financial adviser Matt Vanden Heuvel has joined the firm.

Vanden Heuvel is joined by senior investment portfolio analyst Jenna Mielke and senior client service associate Cindy O’Brien.

Together, they operate as Vanden Heuvel Wealth Management of Raymond James and join from RBC Capital Markets.

The team behind 6 Degrees consists of chief executive George Georgiades, chief investment officer Victoria Greene and president Robert Gilliland.

Jason Hardcastle, an adviser most recently affiliated with Edward Jones, joins as a wealth manager and 6 Degrees’ first adviser.

The firm has a strong pipeline of bolt-on and acquisition prospects.
