US in the news: Jefferies poaches CFO from Barclays Americas

Jefferies Group

The investment firm has named Matthew Larson as chief financial officer.

Larson is currently chief financial officer of Barclays Americas, as well as chief financial officer of Barclays global markets business.

He will succeed Teresa Gendron, who has been Jefferies Group’s interim financial officer since the untimely illness and death of its former chief financial officer, Peg Broadbent.

Wells Fargo

The banking giant has named Michael Liersch as the head of advice and growth strategies for private wealth management.

Liersch joins Wells Fargo from JPMorgan Chase, where he served as managing director and global head of wealth planning and advice.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management

The business has appointed Sinead Colton Grant as deputy chief investment officer and head of equities.

Grant joins from Mellon Investments Corporation (Mellon), a BNY Mellon investment firm where she has worked since 2012.

Most recently, she had been the head of global investment and product strategy for Mellon.

Wilmington Trust

Tony Rogers joins the firm as managing director and senior wealth adviser in New Jersey.

Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, he was a senior director at BNY Mellon Wealth Management.

Seventy2 Capital Wealth Management

The independent wealth management firm has hired Andrew Hahn as a vice president and financial adviser.

He joins Seventy2 Capital from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

Key Private Bank

The wealth management division of KeyCorp has named Veena Khanna as regional sales executive for northeast Ohio.

Previously, Khanna served as head of strategy and implementation with Key Private Bank.

She replaces David Reynolds, who has been named Key Private Bank’s national director of channel management and client acquisition.

Elk River Wealth Management

The US firm has hired David Carroll and Jon Springer as partners at the company.

Both Carroll and Springer most recently served as wealth management advisers at Mutual of Omaha Bank.

RBC Wealth Management

The company has hired several financial advisors to join its Albuquerque branch.

Joining from Maplewood Investments are:

  • John Goodwin, first vice president and financial adviser;
  • Scott Schroeder, vice president and financial adviser; and
  • Sarah Thomas, client associate.

M&A

Creative Planning

The registered investment adviser (RIA) firm has acquired Thun Financial Advisors.

Thun Financial Advisors provides comprehensive financial planning and investment management for clients with approximately $600m (£479.3m, €525.1m) in assets under management.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
