US in the news: CI Financial buys San Diego advice firm

CI Financial

The Canadian financial services firm will acquire San Diego-based registered investment adviser (RIA) firm Dowling & Yahnke.

D&Y, which does business as Dowling & Yahnke Wealth Advisors, was founded in 1991 and serves over 1,300 clients, primarily individuals, families, and non-profit organizations.

The transaction is expected to increase CI’s total US assets to $63bn (£44.5bn, €52bn).

This deal represents CI’s 18th RIA acquisition.

The financial terms were not disclosed.

Focus Financial Partners

The partnership of wealth management firms has agreed to acquire Integer Wealth Advisors Group for an undisclosed sum.

The firm will join Focus partner firm JFS Wealth Advisors, subject to customary closing conditions.

Founded in 2005 by Tom Foglia and Sam Paglioni, Integer is an integrated wealth management firm headquartered in the greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area with an additional presence in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area.

People moves

Wells Fargo

Evelyn Varner has been named as head of advice enablement for wealth and investment management.

Varner most recently served as digital planning executive for Bank of America/Merrill.

Snowden Lane Partners

The independent wealth advisory firm has hired Marivi Rodriguez as a partner and managing director.

Rodriguez has spent the last 11 years at Wells Fargo Advisors, where she offered a range of services for both domestic and international clients and families.

Evercore Wealth Management

The wealth manager has named Alex Lyden-Horn as managing director, director of Delaware Trust Services and trust counsel at Evercore Trust Company.

Lyden-Horn joins Evercore from Christiana Trust Company of Delaware.

Pimco

Brett Condron becomes managing director in the firm’s US global wealth management group.

He joins from Blackstone.

Tiedemann Advisors

The US investment firm has appointed Whitney Fogle Lewis as chief compliance officer and deputy general counsel.

She joins from Carlson Capital, where Lewis served as deputy chief legal officer.

Raymond James

The financial services firm has hired advisers Richard Stern and Jeffrey Stern to its offices in Sarasota, Florida.

The father-son duo operates as Stern Wealth Management of Raymond James and join from Robert W Baird & Co.

RBC Wealth Management

Mark Gherity has been named as Minneapolis complex director.

Most recently, Gherity was executive director and complex manager of Morgan Stanley’s Minnesota and Dakotas complex, a position he had held since 2006.

Also, RBC Wealth Management has hired a seven-person team to its Princeton office.

They join from UBS.

Princeton Financial Partners is composed of:

Crestbridge

The financial services firm has named Karen Clark as a director to bolster its family office operation.

She has over 30 years of experience advising families of wealth in all corners of the globe on matters of governance, succession, and family office operations.
