Describing the partnership as the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the trade body said the courses are aimed at “bridging the gap between academia and the workplace”.

The qualifications will be provided through the university’s Centre for Executive Development as well as to those studying at the Dubai Academic City to give students the “right tools” to develop their careers in the financial services industry, said Cisi.

The courses, mandated by the Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA), will also be offered at Tadawul Academy, an accredited training provider for the Cisi.

After completion, students will be eligible for official Emirati SCA licenses as brokers, trading/operations managers and financial analysts.

Matt Cowan, Cisi’s regional director of UAE, said: “We are continuing to explore other partnership opportunities with educational institutions across Dubai and the UAE.

“With the country taking big strides towards an increasingly qualified workforce in the financial services industry, Cisi aims to promote its qualifications amongst these professionals so they become more valuable in driving the industry’s growth while simultaneously building trust in the financial services profession in the region.”
