UBS appoints country head India

He has been with the Swiss bank for more than 20 years

Uday Odedra has been promoted to India country head, with effect from 1 January 2021.

He takes on the top job in addition to his current role of head group technology in the Asia Pacific region.

He replaces Harald Egger, who has been nominated as chairman of UBS India, a newly created role.

Egger will retain his other position of head of group corporate services.

Digital presence

Odedra has worked for UBS for more than 20 years and was based in London before becoming a founding member of the team that established the UBS Business Solution Centres in India in 2015.

He has been based in Pune since 2015.

According to UBS, Odedra played a central role in developing the firm’s digital and technology presence in India.

Commenting on his promotion, Odedra said: “I am very proud to lead the incredible team we have in India.

“We’ve come a long way in the last five years and have an exciting journey ahead of us.”
