IFA firms should “wrest control” of their businesses from life companies based on the Isle of Man before the Conduct of Business Code comes into force, the director of Thames River International has argued. A move described by one industry source as “dodgy” and a “stain on the industry”.
It is now less than a year until the Isle of Man Conduct of Business Code comes into force, International Adviser spoke to several firms headquartered on the island to see how they are preparing for the introduction of the regulation.
UPDATED: Insurers headquartered on the Isle of Man will no longer have to provide customers with generic information about commissions and fees from 1 January 2018 after the island’s regulator scrapped its plans, in a move welcomed by the industry.
International insurance companies headquartered on the Isle of Man will only have to spell out to customers how much commission they will have to pay to intermediaries over the life of the product at the end of the sales process.
