In a note sent out early this morning, deVere founder and chief executive Nigel Green said the Middle East regional director, Spencer Lodge, “has not been well for a period of time” and so has gone back to the UK to recover and spend more time with his children.
Green added that Lodge may return to the company at some time in the future but that in the meantime the company wishes him “all the very best for his health, and his endeavours”.
Lodge has been at the centre of some controversy in recent years. In 2010 he was arrested for speeding in the US while participating in a ‘Cannonball Run’ – a high speed “race” across the country, and last year was accused of not honouring a bid he made at a charity auction to spend a day with Elton John and his partner. Lodge is later believed to have paid the amount owed.
