Dawn Walker-Bennett joined Skandia International, part of Old Mutual Wealth, as an area manager for the Middle East last month, while Tom Northway joined the company as area manager for Africa in November.

Based in the company’s Dubai office, Walker-Bennett will “focus on maintaining and developing relationships with key distribution partners”. She joins the company from AFH Wealth Management in the UK where she was business development director.

Meanwhile, Northway, who will be based in Nairobi from early 2014, will be Skandia’s first Africa-based area manager, a role Skandia said will enable it to “significantly increase local distribution”. Skandia said Northway will focus on developing relationships with Old Mutual Africa, local IFAs and banks.

Northway joins from Raiffeisen Private Bank, where he worked as a consultant, and prior to that he worked at Raiffeisen Bank International as a director for fund sales.

In addition to the new appointments, Yunus Selant has been appointed as head of sales for the Middle East and Africa – he was previously area manager for the Middle East.

Brendan Dolan, head of the Middle East and Africa region, said: “These senior appointments will help re-enforce our presence in the Middle East and Africa region. The growth potential in the area is significant, and we remain committed to servicing and developing our business in the region.”
