The company said it hopes the appointment of Tony Harris will expand the specialist sales support it provides to financial advisers.
In the newly created role, Harris leads Skandia’s 12-strong proposition team, who aim to ensure that financial advisers are aware of the solutions and services available to them.
Harris previously worked as national sales director for Standard Life and investments director for Standard Life investments.
Most recently, he has been an independent business consultant helping investment and advisory businesses develop product launch and strategic distribution plans.
He begins his new role on 25 June and will report to Scott Goodsir, managing director of UK distribution.
On the appointment, Goodsir said: “We believe that advisers should have access to a highly skilled team of proposition specialists, who can help them build suitable investment strategies based on customer needs."
In April, the company split head of proposition marketing Phil Oxenham’s role, appointing “long term employee”, Tom Hawkins, to the position of UK propositions manager.
The company, which is part of Old Mutual Wealth, said it created the new role to enable a more specific focus on UK and international customer propositions.
