First robo-advice comparison site launched in UK

A digital wealth comparison site providing a rundown of the UK and international automated financial services market, believed to a be a first, has been launched by a specialist consultancy firm.

The website, called Digital Wealth Insights and launched by the Finance & Technology Research Centre (F&TRC), lists business-to-business, direct-to-consumer and adviser software sectors and measures automated services against a set of benchmarks. 

It also provides a directory of digital propositions, including robo-advisers, both in the UK and around the world, giving a comprehensive list of key players in the market. 

It is aimed at firms and advisers looking to launch their own robo-advisory services as well as wealth managers, fintech developers, consultants and private equity firms.

The directory is split into four categories: non-advised investment, which such as platforms Hargreaves Lansdown and Nutmeg; advised investment, including Munnypot; personal financial managers such as Intelliflo; and microsaving tools, including Moneybox and Squirrel. 

The website is able to generate a basic report on each proposition for free, as well as a more comprehensive report available to subscribers.

FinTech analysis

Director Ian McKenna said: “We have spent five years examining how financial services is evolving in the digital era, both in the UK and internationally, as well as over two decades of expertise in analysing financial technology.

“So, we are perfectly placed to create a thorough, objective services of metrics to analyse the main players in the market as well as the up-and-coming disrupters.”

He added: “We have also added our own opinions on the overall impressions the proposition left on us. There are many new offerings that have huge potential but haven’t quite realised it yet, although with time and investment they may do so. We wanted to recognise this potential in a way that objective metrics can’t always highlight.”
