Quilter Private Client Advisers eyes trainee financial planners

Firm is looking for the ‘next generation of talent to join the advice sector’

The advice business of Quilter is kickstarting a recruitment campaign to expand the business by hiring trainee financial planners.

Quilter Private Client Advisers said that the trainees will not need any specific experience or qualifications and it “welcomes candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds”.

The programme will combine a course of study utilising the Quilter Financial Adviser School, supported by close working relationships with senior financial planners in Quilter Private Client Advisers.

Successful candidates will achieve at least a level 4 qualification in financial planning when they complete the programme.

Trainee financial planners will learn how to create a financial plan and gradually start to take on some elements of the advice process as they gain qualifications, and their technical knowledge develops.

They will also develop skills in growing their book of clients by attending events, being active in local business and communities, following up leads, explaining services to potential new clients and developing relationships with professional connections.

Michelle Andrews, managing director of Quilter Private Client Advisers, said: “We are looking for our next generation of talent to join the advice sector. Candidates don’t need to have any specific qualifications; just an analytical mindset and a passion to put clients at the heart of everything they do.

“Becoming a financial planner is a rewarding career that can appeal to a diverse group of people and things such as age or existing qualifications should not act as a barrier to joining the sector. As long as someone has the right skills, passion and attitude, our comprehensive training programme will help them succeed while learning on the job.

“This is an excellent opportunity to join us on our mission to provide expert holistic financial planning coupled with a first-class service and it feeds into our desire to boost the number of financial planners in the business.”

In November 2021, financial services giant Quilter said it was creating two client-focused segments: high net worth (HNW) and affluent.

For the HNW division, Quilter Cheviot will serve as a discretionary manager, and it will work closely with Quilter Private Client Advisers as they both work with wealthier clients.
