PEOPLE MOVES: Zedra, Manulife, Quaero Capital

Zedra has added a head of business development and an associate director to its Jersey roster, while Manulife has made a staggering 17 promotions in Hong Kong. Swiss asset manager Quaero has a new group chief operating officer.

Zedra

Zedra has made two appointments to strengthen its 140-strong team in Jersey. Michael Capraro will join as head of business development fund services, Jersey, while technical funds specialist Ryan Taylor will take on the role of associate director fund services, Jersey.

Capraro was previously a director at Vistra Fund Services in Jersey. Prior to that he worked as a director of TriAlpha Asset Management, and was a founder and managing director for the Jersey based Herald Fund Services where he served for four years. He began his career specialising in financial services in his native South Africa before moving to Europe in 2000.

Taylor started his career at Ernst & Young where he worked for five years with a focus on financial services and investment management clients. He also joins Zedra from Vistra Fund Services.

Manulife

Manulife has made 17 senior agency promotions in Hong Kong. Heading the list is Peter Shum who joined the firm in 1973. He has been named the company’s first-ever senior executive regional director.

Johnny Chan and Andy Tse have been promoted to executive regional director, with David Li named senior regional director.

Six of their colleagues have been elevated to senior district director, with another seven promoted to district director.

Quaero Capital

Geneva-based asset management company Quaro Capital has appointed Francesco Samson as its group chief operating officer, effective from 1 April. The appointment is subject to approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, Finma.

Samson joins from Brevan Howard in Switzerland, where he was head and chief operating officer of the Geneva office and a member of the executive committee of Brevan Howard Investment Products in Jersey. He has considerable experience in the asset management business, built up over more than 20 years.

Henderson Global Investors

Ian Tabberer has joined the Henderson Emerging Market Equities team as investment director. Based in Edinburgh and reporting to head of EM equities Glen Finegan, Tabberer will be responsible for interacting with clients, advisors and internal Henderson teams on all aspects of the portfolios.

He joins the team from the Henderson Global Equities team, which was restructured in December 2016. Prior to joining Henderson, Tabberer was an investment manager at Baillie Gifford.

FundRock Management Company

FundRock has appointed Ronan Doyle as head of risk and operations of its Irish AIFM and Ucits management company branch. Doyle has more than 18 years’ industry experience, specialising in fund administration, depositary and management company services.

Doyle previously worked for Capita Asset Services for four years where he was senior manager responsible for the Capita Ireland AIFM and Ucits management company operations, covering both Cayman and Irish structures.

Invesco Perpetual

William Lam will become sole manager of the Invesco Perpetual Asian Fund, having been co-manager of the fund since 2015.

Lam has been managing pan-Asian portfolios at Invesco Perpetual since 2009, including the Asia Pacific ex-Japan portion of the Invesco Perpetual Pacific Fund and the Invesco Pacific Equity Fund since 2010.
