WH Ireland
Tony Hanlon joins the private wealth management firm as strategic business support analyst from HSBC. He previously worked with WH Ireland’s head of wealth management, Stephen Ford, at Brewin Dolphin.
He leaves HSBC having spent the past three years leading a global team of internal strategy consultants, with a mission to put the customer experience at the heart of the retail banking and wealth management offer.
Additionally, Robert Merrifield is set to join as head of research for the wealth management division.
He previously spent 13 years with Quilter Cheviot where he was head of research and deputy chief investment officer. He then joined Legal & General to lead the collective funds research, proposition and governance team. More recently, Merrifield worked with several UK wealth firms as a consultant.
Monetary Authority of Singapore
Ravi Menon has been reappointed managing director of the MAS for a further two-year term and re-secured a seat on the board.
He has headed up the Singapore financial watchdog since 2011.
Lyxor ETF
Marcello Chelli has been named European head of distribution and retail at Lyxor ETF, effective as of 1 April 2019. The newly created role will see Chelli tasked with promoting and expanding the use of ETFs among distributors and wealth professionals across Europe.
His job will also involve driving forward the distribution of ETFs to retail investors.
Lyxor is also set to significantly increase its presence in the European ETF space through it expansion in Germany following the planned acquisition of Commerzbank’s Comstage ETF range.
MUFG
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group has appointed Richard Yorke as head of global corporate and investment banking (GCIB), Asia Pacific.
The newly created role is based in Singapore and will see Yorke assume responsibility for the bank’s GCIB business across south-east Asia, East Asia and Oceania.
Yorke returns to Asia from San Francisco, where he has been executive vice president group head, international group at Wells Fargo since 2010. He was previously president, chief executive officer at HSBC in China.
Tilney
Wealth manager Tilney has hired Victoria Newlands as an investment adviser. She will be based in the Mayfair, London office and report to head of investment advisory Sam Coppin.
She joins from Rathbone Investment Management where she worked as an assistant investment manager for four and a half years.
