PEOPLE MOVES: Vanguard, The Pensions Regulator, Blacktower

Investment giant names head of multi-asset solutions for Europe, as CEO at regulator demurs a second term

Vanguard

Andreas Zingg will take on the newly created role of head of multi-asset solutions for Vanguard Europe.

He is currently country head and managing officer of Vanguard Investments Switzerland.

The Pensions Regulator

Charles Counsell has announced he will not be seeking a second term as chief executive of the regulator.

He took up the post in April 2019 and will step down at the end of March 2023.

The search for a successor will led by TPR’s chair, Sarah Smart. The appointment will be subject to the approval of the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.

Blacktower Financial Management Group

The advice firm has named Taylor Sallery as group head of business development, according to his Linkedin profile.

Sallery was previously business development manager of Blacktower’s US operation.

Seccl

The Octopus-owned custodian and platform technology provider has hired Kirsty Lynagh as chief people officer. She was formerly chief people officer at Nucleus.

Additionally, Farzana Khalil, who was recently appointed head of customer at Seccl, will move into the newly created chief customer officer position.

Mirabaud Asset Management

Liisa Juntunen has been named as head of distribution across all the firm’s markets.

She joins from PGIM Quantitative Solutions, where she managed institutional business development in Emea, with a focus on developing the product proposition.

HSBC Asset Management

The banking group has promoted Yigit Onat to head of multi-asset in Asia.

Prior to his promotion, he was the chief investment officer for HSBC AM in Turkey.

Onat will succeed Denis Gould, who is retiring in August.

Value Partners

The independent asset manager has hired Samuel Sun as managing director and chief risk officer.

He replaces David Wong, who retired in late March 2022.

Sun joins Value Partners from Manulife Investment Management, where he was the chief risk officer (Asia).

Holborn Financial

The IFA firm has named Nigel Speirs as chairman.

Spiers is currently chairman at consolidator MKC Wealth. He was previously managing director at Quilter Private Client Advisers.

Quilter

The wealth manager has appointed Glyn Barker as chair, effective from 7 September 2022.

Barker will join the Quilter board as a non-executive director. He was previously vice chairman of UK at PwC.

Ruth Markland will continue as chair of Quilter until Barker’s appointment becomes effective.

In other news, Neeta Atkar has been appointed as a non-executive director and chair of the board risk committee.

George Reid will continue to chair the board risk committee until Atkar is appointed to the role.
