Wealth manager bolsters Jersey operation, as pension consultancy firm names senior partner

UBS Global Wealth Management

Five client advisers in the wealth manager’s Jersey office have been promoted.

William Grant and Lucas Foreman have been promoted to director and associate director, respectively, on the financial intermediaries (FIM) team.

Also, John Pipon, Stephen Coelho, and Joseph Peacock have been named as associate directors on the private wealth management (PWM) team.

Hymans Robertson

The pension consultancy firm has named as Jon Hatchett as senior partner, effective from 1 April.

He takes on the role of heading up the pensions and financial services consultancy firm from John Dickson who, with the rolling tenure of the senior partner role, will be resuming a predominant focus on strategic investment advice across the firm’s clients.

Hatchett joined Hymans Robertson in 2006 after pursuing a career in academia.

AIG Life

The UK life insurer has named Nick Austin as managing director of its individual protection business.

Austin joined the UK life insurance arm of Corebridge Financial, formerly AIG Life & Retirement, in January 2022 as head of pricing.

He has over 20 years’ experience in financial services and business including 10 years at LV, most notably as protection director.

Fintel

SimplyBiz founder Ken Davy is stepping down as chair of the business support services firm.

Phil Smith, currently independent non-executive director, is to become chair of the company from 18 May.

Davy founded The SimplyBiz Group 16 years ago.

BNY Mellon Investment Management

Richard Parkin has taken on the newly created role of head of retirement.

He joins from Richard Parkin Consulting, an independent consultancy he founded in January 2018.

WH Ireland

The UK wealth manager has hired Kevin Smith as an investment manager in its wealth management division.

Smith spent the last 15 years at Ruffer, most recently as an investment director.

Oberon Investments

The wealth manager has named Mike Cuthbert as chairman and Phil Smeaton as head of investments.

Cuthbert boasts nearly 40 years’ experience in investment banking, most recently serving as co-head of financials at Zeus Capital.

As chairman, he succeeds Alex Hambro, who steps back but remains a non-executive director at Oberon.

Smeaton joins the boutique’s investment management team after eight years at Atomos. He started as head of UK equities in December 2014, before being promoted to chief investment officer in August 2016.

BlackRock

The asset management giant has appointed Nicholas Peach as head of Apac markets and investments for iShares and index investments, effective May 2023.

Based in Hong Kong, Peach will be responsible for leading the Apac iShares markets and index investments team.

Peach was most recently with Goldman Sachs, where he was head of Apac equities electronic services.
