UBS Wealth Management
The head of wealth planning at UBS Wealth Management, Bernhard Buchs, is to step down in 2018.
Buchs will hand over his responsibilities to Holger Engelhardt.
Engelhardt, who previously worked in Swiss personal banking as head of Zurich clients, will report to Christian Wiesendanger, the head of wealth management investment platforms and solutions.
Franklin Templeton
Franklin Templeton Investments has appointed Mats Eltoft as head of distribution, Nordic region. In his new role, Eltoft will oversee the company’s sales and marketing efforts in the Nordic region, across both retail and institutional channels, and he will report to Reinhard Berben, senior director, Central Europe and Nordic region.
Eltoft joined Franklin Templeton in Stockholm as a sales director in April 2015, responsible for developing the institutional segment, including pension funds, endowments and consultants throughout the Nordic region.
Succession
James Stevenson has been appointed chief executive of UK wealth management firm Succession.
Stevenson was previously managing director of the wealth management business and will combine the roles. He joined the company in 2015 as group operations director.
The appointment comes eight months after Succession’s founder and chief executive, Simon Chamberlain, died suddenly aged 51.
Weatherbys
SJP chief executive David Bellamy has been appointed as chairman of Weatherbys Bank.
Earlier this year, Bellamy announced his decision to step down from SJP after 26 years, with 11 years leading the firm as chief executive.
Bellamy will be the first individual from outside of the Weatherby family to take on the role. He is to replace Johnny Weatherby who has been chairman of the firm since 1994.
Bennbridge
Multi-boutique investment firm Bennbridge has appointed two to the investment team of Pembroke, a global emerging-market long/short equity strategy, to work alongside chief investment officer Sanjiv Bhatia.
Goldman Sachs veteran Gregory Mariasch joins as a partner and portfolio manager from RAM Capital Partners.
Luis Fernandez de Mesa, who was previously vice president at Evercore, joins Pembroke as an equity analyst.
HANetf
HANetf, independent European white label ETF platform founded by Hector McNeil and Nik Bienkowski, has appointed Samir Patel as general counsel and Ignatius Faissal as director of product management.
Patel brings more than 20 years’ legal and compliance experience in the investment fund sector, most recently at Alliance Bernstein.
Allianz
Allianz Group’s specialist corporate insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS) announced changes to its board of management, which take effect in 2018.
From 1 July, chief operating officer Sinéad Browne moves to a new board-level role at AGCS, taking over from chief regions and markets officer, Carsten Scheffel, who retires from his role at the end of June.
In her new role, based in London, Browne will oversee AGCS Regional Unit London, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Nordics, Russia, Dubai and Australia, plus Asia and South America regions.
Bettina Dietsche, currently head of group operations at Allianz SE in Munich joins AGCS on 1 April 2018 to succeed Browne as chief operating officer, subject to approvals of the regulator and the supervisory board.
In addition, chief claims officer Alexander Mack will retire from AGCS on 30 June 2018, with Philipp Cremer taking on the non-Board level role of Global Head of Claims, reporting to AGCS chief exec Chris Fischer Hirs.
