Standard Life Aberdeen

Newly-created asset management colossus Standard Life Aberdeen has appointed a head for its onshore China business.

Amy Wang, formerly head of institutional business for greater China at Amundi Pioneer Asset Management, will take up the new role on 1 September.

Wang joined Pioneer Investments in September 2015. Prior to that, she spent 12 years as Beijing chief representative at Franklin Templeton where she oversaw daily operations including business development and client services.

HSBC Private Banking

HSBC Private Banking has hired Sai Tampi as global head of funds and exchange-traded funds (Etfs) reporting to Henry Lee, head of managed investment solutions.

Based in London, Tampi will be responsible for the development and distribution of the firm’s funds and Etf offering. He will manage global fund selection including the strategic partner programme with selected funds and Etf groups which launched in May 2017, and will lead the Global Fund Selection team.

Tampi joins HSBC from Standard Life Investments in London, where he was head of business development for global strategic alliances. Prior to that, he held senior posts as head of asset and portfolio management at HSBC and Credit Suisse in India.

Aviva Investors

Global asset management firm Aviva Investors has appointed Sunil Krishnan as head of multi-asset funds.

In this new role, Krishnan will oversee the teams managing multi-asset portfolios across institutional and retail clients. He joins in October and will be based in London, reporting to Peter Fitzgerald, global head of multi-asset.

Krishnan joins from Santander Asset Management, where he was a senior portfolio manager responsible for outcome-oriented funds and asset allocation strategy.

Additionally, the company has announced that Gavin Counsell has been appointed as a manager on the Aviva Investors Multi Strategy (AIMS) Target Income Fund.

Counsell has been with Aviva Investors for over five years. He joins the four-strong AIMS fund management team led by Peter Fitzgerald and replaces Nick Samouilhan, who is “leaving the business to pursue another opportunity,” the firm said.

Quilter Cheviot

Investment manager Quilter Cheviot has appointed two members to its business development team to expand its activity in London and the home counties.

Brian Donald and Tom Kesterton have joined the firm’s London office in the past month. They will report to Andrew McGlone, managing director, London Investment Management.

Donald previously worked at Axa Wealth as a business development manager, and will be responsible for Quilter Cheviot’s business development activities in central London.

Kesterton joins from Artemis fund managers where he was head of sales support and a sales executive.

These appointments follow the promotion of David Butler to strategic accounts director and the recent appointments of Jonathan Buttress and Edward Walker as regional development managers.

Maven Capital Partners

Private equity firm Maven Capital Partners has hired a new investment director for its team in the north of England.

Dave Furlong joins from Infinity Debt Capital Management where, as partner and head of debt fund, he oversaw the launch and overall management of a SME/mid-market regional debt fund and originated new private equity opportunities.

In his role at Maven, Furlong will be responsible for sourcing and executing new investments for the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF) Equity Finance fund, a collaboration between the government-owned British Business Bank and 10 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) in the north-west, Yorkshire & the Humber and Tees Valley.

The news follows the appointment of Craig Hopwood as an investment director focusing on private equity. Hopwood too will be based in Maven’s Manchester office.

Sandringham

Sandringham Financial Partners has appointed Phil Newton to the newly created role of director of recruitment as part of the firm’s drive to increase its adviser numbers.

Most recently, Newton has been leading True Potential’s distribution of True Potential Portfolios and previously was fundamental in the development of James Hay across the UK intermediary marketplace.
