PEOPLE MOVES: Standard Bank, Equiom, Metlife

CEO changes at the South African banking group, as financial services provider names managing director

Standard Bank

It has promoted Charles Molteno as chief executive of the Jersey operation.

He will assume responsibility for overseeing and coordinating all activities on the island from Will Thorpe, who retains the position of chief executive of Standard Bank International.

Molteno joined Standard Bank after working in banking in Lagos and South Africa and currently holds the position of head of risk for wealth international.

Equiom

The financial services provider has hired Steve Le Seelleur as managing director of its Jersey operation.

Le Seelleur joins from HSBC, where he focused on strategy and managing group relationships.

At Equiom, he will be responsible for the performance and growth of its Jersey office.

MetLife

The global insurer has named Lilia Mokhtari and Matthew Le Belenger as head of multinational and key accounts in the Gulf, and head of sales for the UAE, respectively.

Mokhtari joins MetLife from Maxis Global Benefits Network.

Le Belenger was previously head of B2B relationships at MetLife in Australia.

Generali Investment Partners (GIP)

The subsidiary of Generali Asset Management has named Anna Maria Reforgiato Recupero and Guido Maistri as head of strategic investors group and senior sales of the Italian retail market, respectively.

Recupero will report to GIP chief executive Carlo Trabattoni.

She will run the strategic investor group team, which is the hub for all of Generali Group’s asset management companies and units, including boutiques and affiliates, when dealing with strategic partners and key accounts.

Recupero joined Generali Investments in September 2017 as head of insurance and liability driven investors (LDI) solutions.

Maistri reports to GIP head of sales Italy Paolo Casadonte.

He will be tasked with the development of the retail, private banking and financial advisory businesses on the Italian market.

Previously, Maistri was at Blackrock, where he spent six years in sales managerial roles.

Withers

The global law firm has appointed partner Justine Markovitz as its chairperson.

She will formally start the role on 1 July 2019 and succeeds the firm’s first US-based chairperson, Ivan Sacks, who has served for the maximum permissible period of two terms.

Markovitz joined Withers in 1999, becoming a partner in 2004.

IQ-EQ

The private client service provider has hired Fèmy Mouftaou as chief commercial director to spearhead business development in Luxembourg.

Fèmy has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.

He joins IQ-EQ from fund, corporate and private wealth service provider JTC, where he held the dual title of managing director and conducting officer.

Schroders

Peter Arnold has joined the asset manager as senior private assets distribution head.

He will lead Schroders’ alternative sales unit, which was established last year and focuses on the distribution of Schroders’ private assets investment offering.

Arnold will report into John Troiano, Schroders’ global head of distribution, and Georg Wunderlin, global head of private assets.

Prior to Schroders, he was most recently the global head of international fund distribution at Citi.

Tilney

The UK investment manager has named Paul Weyers as senior equity analyst in its central investment team.

In this role, he will work alongside the head of equities, Andy Brown, to improve Tilney’s direct equity research capabilities.

Weyers joins from Brown Shipley, where he was senior fund manager with responsibility for direct equities within the multi-asset fund range.
