SJP Wealth Management Asia has appointed Jonathan Asherson as a senior advisor to its Asia Advisory Board.
Asherson’s career includes the role of regional director for Asean and the Pacific at Rolls-Royce; positions in Siemens’ industrial power business in China, Malaysia, Germany and the US. He was also previously a former president of the Singapore British Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Economic Development Board of Singapore.
Seven Investment Management
Seven Investment Management has sacked its chief investment officer Chris Darbyshire after a “disagreement over the strategic direction of the firm”.
Darbyshire, who had been in the post since 2013, has been placed on gardening leave and replaced by Ian Jensen-Humphreys.
Deutsche Bank
Deutsche Bank has poached two teams of relationship managers for its wealth management unit in Singapore to support its growth strategy in Asia.
The first team of four, led by Jonathan Ng, joined Deutsche Bank Wealth Management from BNP Paribas Wealth Management Singapore. Ng reports to Kwong Kin-Mun, head of wealth management coverage for south-east Asia.
The second team of two, led by Gregory Goh, joins from Nomura Singapore. Goh reports to Malcolm Tay, group head, south-east Asia for wealth management.
Janus Henderson Investors
Janus Henderson Investors global head of equities, Graham Kitchen, is leaving the industry to pursue other interests in the charitable sector. He will remain with the team until the end of March 2018 to ensure a smooth transition.
The firm also announced it has appointed George Maris and Alex Crooke as co-heads of Equities. Maris will be responsible for leading equities in the US and Crooke will be responsible for leading equities in the Emea & Apac regions. Both will jointly report to Enrique Chang, global chief investment officer.
Brewin Dolphin
Private client investment managers Brewin Dolphin has strengthened its team in Jersey with the appointment of Bianca Jacques as business development manager. She will be working in the Jersey office promoting the company’s investment management services to the intermediary community in the Channel Islands.
Jacques brings with her over 10 years’ experience in the financial services sector. Prior to joining Brewin she was director at MUFG Investor Services and previously held roles at international banks UBS and BNP Paribas.
Eversheds Sutherland
Law firm Eversheds Sutherland International has announced that Pamela Thompson has been elected chair for a term of four years. Thompson will take on the position on 1 May 2018, succeeding Paul Smith who did not stand for re-election.
Thompson is head of the financial services product team. Her main areas of practice are investment fund structuring and establishment and financial services regulatory work.
Intertrust
Intertrust, a global provider of high-value trust, corporate and fund services, has appointed Stephanie Miller as chief executive.
Miller will be appointed as member of the management board and chief executive for a period of four years, starting 22 January 2018. Miller succeeds current member of the management board and outgoing chief, David de Buck, who will be available until the annual general meeting of 17 May 2018 to support a smooth transition.
Miller brings more than 15 years’ international experience in financial services, including executive roles in fund and corporate services businesses.
Prior to joining Intertrust, she was senior vice president and managing director at SS&C Technologies, a listed global provider of financial services software and software-enabled services.
UBS
The UBS Board of Directors will nominate Jeremy Anderson for election to the Board of UBS Group AG at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on 3 May 2018 and for election to the Board of UBS AG.
Anderson was the chairman of KPMG’s Global Financial Services Practice from 2010 until November 2017.
He has spent over 30 years working with the banking and insurance industry in an advisory capacity, covering a broad range of topics, including strategy, audit and risk management, technology and operational transformation, mergers and bank restructuring.
Anderson was appointed to lead KPMG’s UK Financial Services Practice in 2004, taking European leadership responsibilities in 2006 and global leadership in 2010.
