Sparrows makes hire from 7IM

Sparrows Capital

The firm has appointed 7IM’s Arnie Millington as a business development manager to oversee the Sparrows Capital MPS.

At 7IM, he was a business development manager responsible for building relationships with advisers across the Midlands and North West regions.

He brings a decade of experience to the firm having previously held roles at Benchmark Capital and AJ Bell.

Yariv Haim, CEO at Sparrows Capital, said: “This is a key appointment for Sparrows Capital. Arnie has broad experience in the financial advice market and a solutions-oriented, consultative approach to business development and will be a great addition to the team.”

L&G

The firm has added Amundi’s Ashley Fagan to its global asset management client distribution team as head of distribution for global financial institutions.

Fagan spent the past near-six years at Amundi, where she became head of global strategic clients for distribution and wealth. She previously spent 10 years at BlackRock working on distribution for iShares ETF and Index Investing.

At L&G, Fagan will report to chief client officer Sarah Aitken and place a emphasis on growing partnerships in the US, as well as the more established connections with UK, Europe and Asia markets.

Nuveen

The asset manager has appointed Saira Malik to take over now-CEO William Huffman’s role as head of equities and fixed income platform, following Huffman’s appointment in June.

In addition to her new position, Malik will remain as chief investment officer and chair of Nuveen’s Global Investment Committee. She has been with Nuveen since 2003, with previous roles including head of global equities portfolio management and head of global equities research.

Liontrust

Non-executive chair Alastair Barbour will step down from his position on the Liontrust board at the end of the annual general meeting (AGM) on 19 September.

Barbour joined the board in 2011 and was appointed as chair in 2019. The UK corporate governance code states that board members should not keep their post past nine years of first appointment to the board.

Luke Savage, who is currently chair of Chesnara and non-executive director of Deustche Numis, will be appointed as new non-executive director and chair on 20 September.

GQG Partners

The boutique firm has appointed Jonathan Miller as a client portfolio manager.

Based in London, Miller will act as an extension of the investment team, engaging in research and portfolio management meetings and producing portfolio analytics for clients in the UK.

Miller was previously head of UK manager research at Morningstar for eight years.

Callanish Capital

Th multi-family office has hired David Kerr and Peter Sleep as investment directors.

Based in London, Sleep joins after 17 years at Seven Investment Management (7IM) where he was a senior portfolio manager. He will work alongside Callanish co-founder Oliver Murray.

Sleep was a manager on 7IM’s asset allocated passive (AAP) range at its inception in 2008, while he was also lead manager on the wealth manager’s discretionary fund management (DFM) passive range before exiting 7IM in April.

Wealth Club

The firm has hired Parmenion’s Isaac Stell as an investment manager.

Stell joins the firm’s investment research team, headed by Jonathan Moyes, which is responsible for the Wealth Club Portfolio Service.

He spent two years at Parmenion as a fund research manager, and has previously held roles at Laver Wealth Management and Sanlam Private Wealth.
