St James’s Place hires a partner from Odyssey Asset Management, Guernsey Finance appoints a permanent representative in Hong Kong and Pensionhelp snares an ex-Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) heavyweight.

St James’s Place

Enzio von Pfeil has joined the partnership team of St James’s Place Wealth Management Asia.

Von Pfeil has more than 30 years of experience in working with institutional and high net worth investors, having previously held senior roles based in the UK and Hong Kong. Most recently, he was group economist at Odyssey Asset Management – Hong Kong.

In joining the SJP partnership, von Pfeil will focus on providing wealth management services to affluent and high net worth expats.

Guernsey Finance

Guernsey Finance has employed Dorothy Kwok as a permanent representative in Hong Kong.

Kwok has eight years’ experience in the trust and corporate services industry, most recently with a company that was bought by global trust business Equiom, which also has a Guernsey office.

Her work with Equiom and another Jersey-based trust company brought her into contact with Channel Islands structures and she spent time working in Jersey.

Kwok’s remit will include promoting Guernsey to her home market of Hong Kong.

Pensionhelp

Pensionhelp has announced the appointment of Rory Percival as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Percival previously worked for the FCA for 10 years and was involved with many high-profile projects such as risk profiling, centralised investment propositions, RDR, research and due diligence, and the assessing suitability review.

Prior to joining the regulator, Percival worked in the advisory for sector for 20 years, mainly in compliance and training roles.

In November 2016, he launched his own firm – Rory Percival Training and Consultancy – to help support professionalism in the advisory sector. He is also a member of the Personal Finance Society Board.

Amundi

Amundi Asset Management has appointed Stephanie Carbonneil as head of third-party distribution for the UK, Ireland and Greece.

Carbonneil is based in London and will report to Christian Pellis, global head of distribution, and Laurent Guillet, chief executive officer of Amundi’s London branch.

She joins from Schroders where she spent three years managing the London office’s sales and marketing strategy for investments trusts.

Stenham

Independently owned asset management and private wealth management group, Stenham has recruited Adrian Lihou.

Lihou has more than 20 years’ investment management experience, having joined Credit Suisse as a portfolio manager upon graduation in 1995, before moving to take up a more senior role at SG Hambros in 2001.

He was subsequently appointed head of investment management for SG Hambros’ Channel Islands business in April 2008, a position he held until August of last year.

Lihou will be based in Guernsey and will manage investment portfolio and build business relationships with high net worth individuals, advisers and intermediaries.

Barnett Waddingham

Barnett Waddingham has appointed Marcus Whitehead as its first managing partner, to drive future growth across the whole business, including pensions, investment and insurance.

Whitehead has been a partner at the firm for more than 15 years and has held several senior positions during this time.
