Deputy CEO hired at Singapore insurer, as German wealth manager targets UK family office growth

Singlife

The Singapore-based digital insurer has hired Samantha Ghiotti as deputy chief executive, effective immediately.

This follows founder and chief executive Water de Oude’s plan to expand in southeast Asia.

Ghiotti was previously a partner at Anthemis Group, a fintech venture investor.

Deutsche Bank Wealth Management UK

Roberto Rosati has been promoted to managing director for single family offices in the UK, starting from 1 January 2020.

He has been with Deutsche Bank since 2006, having held several senior positions.

UBS

The Swiss firm has split its Emea department within the global wealth management business in three and named respective heads to lead each segment.

Christl Novakovic will continue as head of the European business, while Caroline Kuhnert will become head of Central and Eastern Europe, and Ali Janoudi will lead the Middle East and Africa division.

Additionally, Bruno Marxer has been promoted to head of wealth planning, global mandates and investment content.

Mercer

Malcom Reynolds has joined Mercer as UK head of pension administration.

He previously spent 17 years JLT where he most recently served as a managing director for the pension administration business.

JLT was recently bought by Marsh & McLennan, Mercer’s parent company.

Aberdeen Standard Investments

The Scottish firm has appointed Adam Grimsley as an investment director within its private market – product strategy team.

Prior to joining, he was head of investment solutions at crypto asset investment provider Prime Factor Capital.

Haysmacintyre

The tax advisory and accountancy firm has expanded its private client team by hiring James Walker as a partner.

He joins from Buzzacott where he served as head of private clients.

Absa

The former deputy governor of South Africa’s central bank, Daniel Mminele, has been named chief executive of bank Absa – formerly Barclays Africa.

He retired from the central bank in June 2019 and will succeed Rene van Wyk on 15 January 2020, who has been leading the bank on an interim basis since former top boss Maria Ramos retired in early 2019.

Brewin Dolphin

Lee Clark is going to lead the wealth management firm’s Gatwick office, which is set to open in February 2020.

Clark is currently head of the company’s Reigate office, which will be closed and all members of staff relocated to Gatwick to continue servicing clients based in the Surrey, East and West Sussex, Kent and south coast areas.

Fasea

A director of Australia’s Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority has resigned, effective from 31 January 2020.

Catriona Lowe will move to a full-time job as a state/territory member of the Australian Energy Regulator starting from 3 February 2020.

Odey Asset Management

Three people have been promoted to partner, effective from 1 January 2020.

They are James Kostoris, Stefan Way and Simon Schafer.

Kostoris has been with the firm since 2012 when he left Brown Shipley.

Wey joined in 2013 after 13 years at UBS, while Schafer started working for Odey in 2014 having previously been a European technology analyst at Goldman Sachs.
