Scottish Widows
Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Chirantan Barua as chief executive of its subsidiary Scottish Widows and its insurance, pensions and investments business unit.
The appointment, which is subject to regulatory approval, follows Antonio Lorenzo’s decision to retire in 2023.
Barua will join the group next year from HSBC, where he has most recently held the role of global head of strategy.
Schroders
The asset manager has announced several senior appointments in its Asia Pacific business.
After more than 17 years with the firm, incumbent Asia Pacific chief executive, Susan Soh, is retiring at the end of the year and will be replaced by Chris Durack.
Durack is re-joining Schroders having previously spent 10 years at the firm in various leadership roles including Hong Kong chief executive, Australia chief executive and most recently co-head of Asia Pacific.
He will assume his new role from January 2023 and will be based in Singapore.
Meanwhile, Amy Cho, Hong Kong chief executive and deputy head of Asia Pacific, is stepping down from the firm and will start to transition her responsibilities from early January.
Gopi Mirchandani will be appointed chief executive of Hong Kong, reporting to Durack, with effect from mid-January 2023.
Additionally, Mirchandani will take on the newly created role of head of strategy for Asia Pacific. Mirchandani is currently chief executive and head of the Asia client group at NN Investment Partners.
In addition, Szu Yi Chin has been appointed to the newly created role of head of distribution for Asia Pacific.
Chin was previously with Schroders for 12 years, where she was responsible for the mutual funds business in Singapore and Malaysia.
Invesco
The asset manager has promoted Kate Dwyer has been promoted to head of UK distribution.
Dwyer was formerly head of passives UK at Invesco, having joined following the acquisition of Source, the European ETF provider, in 2018.
Quilter
Chair designate Glyn Barker has stepped down from the financial services firm’s board for personal reasons.
Having previously undertaken this role with a view to handing over to Barker, the board has confirmed that Ruth Markland will chair Quilter going forward, and Tim Breedon will be the senior independent director.

The advice tech firm has appointed Melinda Lovell as enterprise development director.
She has worked within the financial services industry for 20 years and for the past 12 years at Bita Risk, where she has specifically focused on investment risk and suitability in the high/ultra-high net worth space, working with private banks, family offices and wealth management firms.
Axa Investment Managers (Axa IM)
Simon King has been named as sales director in the investment firm’s UK wholesale team.
He joins Axa IM from Bellevue Asset Management, where he worked as UK business development officer responsible for building the client base of the Bellevue healthcare team.
