CEOs named at both financial planning and asset management firms

Schroders Private Wealth

James Rainbow is stepping aside as Peter Hetherington becomes the chief executive of Schroders Personal Wealth, four months after the joint venture officially opened.

Hetherington joins from the IG group where he held the top job for over three years.

Rainbow will take on the role of head of UK and Latin America.

Additionally, Karl Dasher, Schroders’ chief executive of North America and co-head of fixed income, will leave the firm at the end of 2019.

Ashburton Investments

The asset management firm has promoted Sizwe Nxedlana as chief executive, with immediate effect.

He succeeds Boshoff Grobler, who moved to another role in Ashburton’s parent company FirstRand Group.

Nxedlana has been with FirstRand for over a decade, and remains chief executive of First National Bank Wealth and Investment, also part of FirstRand.

WH Ireland

Tim Steel and Richard Lee are going to retire as chairman and non-executive director, respectively, at the end of 2019.

Steel joined WH Ireland’s board in 2014 and was named chairman in 2016; while Lee has been a non-executive director since 2010, after working for the firm for eight years before that.

Lee will continue as a senior adviser to the company as it develops its wealth management business.

Resolution Re

The reinsurance company part of Resolution Life Group has promoted Steve Hales to chief executive.

He joined the group in 2017 as executive director of Europe.

Previously, he was group head of Connected Insurance at Assicurazioni Generali and head of AXA’s Life and Savings business across Southern Europe, Latin America and Mena markets.

Smith & Williamson

The financial and professional services group has hired Carla Stent as a non-executive director.

She currently holds similar positions at commodities brokerage firm Marex Spectron and at Post Office.

Stent’s appointment is effective immediately and she will also chair Smith & Williamson’s audit and risk oversight committee.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management

The investment management arm of Morgan Stanley has made two hires to its international equity team.

Candida de Silva joins as a senior portfolio specialist from Blackrock where she spent 11 years holding several senior positions.

Helena Miles has been named a generalist research analyst. She was previously at Capital Group where she worked on the luxury goods and retail sector.

Chase de Vere

The UK-based independent financial advisory firm has recruited Darren Fletcher as a senior manager in Birmingham.

He will be responsible fro running the office and managing the team of 13 advisers based in Birmingham.

He joins from Lloyds Bank International where he held a similar role within the international private banking and financial advice division.
