Schroders
Group CEO Peter Harrison has confirmed that he will retire from the role next year, with an “orderly transition” set to take place during 2025, according to the firm.
A search for Harrison’s successor has been launched by Schroders, during which time Harrison will remain a director on the company’s board.
Peter Harrison joined Schroders in March 2013 as global head of investment. He became group chief executive in April 2016. Prior to his time at Schroders, Harrison was chair and CEO of RWC Partners, and also worked at JP Morgan and Deutsche Asset Management (now DWS). He began his investment career at Schroders in 1988, returning to the firm some 25 years later.
Morningstar
The company has promoted Monika Calay from director of passive strategies research to director of UK manager research.
In the newly-created role, Calay will lead the firm’s UK active and passive manager research teams, in order to help meet clients’ needs and “optimise the existing talent within the teams”.
Calay first joined Morningstar in 2015 as a research analyst, but left in 2018 to join Vanguard as senior research analyst. She was promoted to portfolio consultant during her time there, then returned to the firm in 2020. Prior to Morningstar, Calay spent three years as a product specialist at Bloomberg. She has also worked at Morgan Stanley.
The CISI
The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) has named Hannah Daniel, as the new president of the Yorkshire committee. She takes over from Rebecca Keating.
Daniel is an investment manager at LGT Wealth Management based in Leeds. She has over eight years of experience in wealth management and joined LGT following the acquisition of abrdn’s discretionary investment management business in 2023.
Since joining the CISI Yorkshire committee in 2020, she has organised various social and continuing professional development (CPD) events. Her current focus is promoting the CISI Young Professionals’ Network locally.
Liontrust
Liontrust has added Alexander Game to its Economic Advantage team to co-manage four of the firm’s UK-focused funds.
He moves over from the Unicorn Asset Management where he spent almost a decade managing its UK Smaller Companies fund alongside Simon Moon, and the UK Growth fund with Fraser Mackersie. These funds are up 84.4% and 76.6% respectively over the past 10 years.
Game will join the six existing managers on Liontrust’s Economic Advantage team, which is headed up by Anthony Cross, who has been on the team since 1998.
Wesleyan
The advice firm has bolstered its group executive team with two new appointments and a board level promotion.
Nathan Beckett was promoted to the role of chief financial officer on 1 April from his position as managing director of dental, general insurance and direct. He now sits on the board of directors. He joined Wesleyan in 2008 as part of the corporate audit team and has held a number of senior roles there.
Katie Wadey joins the business as chief product and commercial officer from Simplyhealth, where she held a similar role. She has over 20 years’ experience working in in a range of customer-focused and commercial roles within blue chip companies including British Gas, BT and Tesco, where she was customer experience director. She has also held roles at Aviva and LV=.
Wadey will lead the corporate strategy, new business development, products, proposition, marketing and communications teams.
Karen Blatchford joined the firm in February as managing director of dental, direct and intermediary distribution, after eight years at Quilter. Her most recent role there was distribution director, responsible for the UK platform and associated products. She has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services sector, including 17 years at Legal & General.
