Schroders confirmed two senior appointments despite public protestations, while Julius Baer has revamped its UK front office. Aberdeen AM has poached its new Asia Pacific head of multi asset from Alliance Bernstein, with Providence creating a new regional director role in Asia.

Schroders

Despite Hermes and Royal London, among others, publicly announcing ahead of the company’s AGM on Thursday, their intention to vote against Schroders’ decision to appoint former chief executive Michael Dobson to the position of chairman, shareholders voted 85% in favour of Dobson’s appointment.

Peter Harrison, who replaced Dobson as chief executive, received 99.6% of votes in his favour.

Julius Baer

Julius Baer announced that head of relationship, Massimo Hilber, will lead its UK front office, supported by three new appointments. In his current role since 2014, Hilber previously held senior roles in Asia and Switzerland with the company.

Robert Woodthorpe Browne joins as head of relationship management from Adam & Co., where he was market head for England and a member of the management committee. In addition to his new role, the Dublin office will come under his responsibility.

Annabel Bosman, who has also been promoted to head of relationship management, joined Julius Baer as a senior relationship manager in November 2015 from Deutsche Bank. Prior to that she was an investment counsellor at Citi.

Paul McCafferty, who came to Julius Baer at the beginning of 2016 from Barclays Wealth, has been named a deputy head of relationship management and joins Terry Gyorffy and Rajan Rattan in this role.

Aberdeen Asset Management

Irene Goh is to join Aberdeen AM as head of multi asset for Asia Pacific on 3 May. Based in Hong Kong, she will lead the regional effort to design and manage multi asset solutions for both retail and institutional distribution.

Previously head of multi asset investment at Alliance Bernstein, Goh has 20 years’ experience in asset management.

Providence

Neil Broadbent has been appointed to the new role of regional director Asia for Providence. Prior to joining Providence, Broadbent held positions with Generali and Cape Town Private Bank. In his new role, he will be responsible for the growth of distribution for the brand in Asia.

Broadbent will support Simon Littmoden, global business development director, who joined Providence in January 2014; and Peter Drummond, executive director, who was appointed in April 2016.

Smith & Williamson

The accountancy, investment management, and tax group announced that John Cooney has rejoined the firm as a partner, 10 years after departing to join EY.

During his time at EY, Cooney specialised in advising entrepreneurs, entertainers, media clients, and sports people in all aspects of their private tax and business affairs.

States of Jersey

Jersey’s director of financial services, Joe Moynihan, will be stepping down from his post later this year to return to his career in the private sector. The process to find his successor will begin soon.

Over the past three years, Moynihan set up and led the Financial Services Directorate, which works alongside the financial services industry to strengthen Jersey’s position as a financial services jurisdiction.
