Schroders

Schroders’ fund managers Paul Marriage and John Warren are to leave the firm at the end of the year to set up their own boutique.

They currently manage Schroders’ UK Dynamic Absolute Return strategy and will take both the on and offshore versions of the fund with them to their new firm, Tellworth Investments.

Marriage and Warren’s new venture will come under the umbrella of BennBridge, a firm launched in December last year offering structural support to fledgling boutique asset managers.

Janus Henderson

Freshly minted Janus Henderson has announced two new senior roles in the continental Europe and Latin American distribution team.

Steven de Vries has stepped into the role of head of global financial institutions, and in addition, Ignacio de la Maza, has been appointed head of continental Europe wholesale & Latin America.

As well as taking on responsibility for wholesale in continental Europe and Latin America, de la Maza will continue to manage sales for Latin America and Iberia, a team of seven individuals.

To support de Vries’ new role an additional hire will be made in the coming months.

Principal Global Investors

Global multi-boutique asset manager Principal GI has poached Janus’s Alan Glendon as director of UK fund distribution, reporting to Nick Lyster, global head of wealth advisory services.

He has been tasked with building and strengthening relationships between Principal and private banks, wealth managers, family offices and brokers in UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands.

Glendon has over 17 years’ experience in asset management with a focus on wealth management and joins from Janus Capital where he was sales director, responsible for the firm’s strategic direction, sales management and delivery for their UK financial institutions channels.

The appointment of Glendon follows the hire of Martin Bloch as country head and head of sales in Switzerland for Principal’s recently opened Zurich office.

Intertrust

Cliff Pearce has been named global head of capital markets, bringing with him over 20 years’ experience working in the sector. He joins from the Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and is replacing Robert Berry who retired recently.

In his new role, Pearce will oversee and build on the trust, corporate and fund services firm’s global offering of capital market solutions.

He will also be responsible for developing a holistic offering together with the funds division providing joined up solutions for the private equity client base in this expanding market sector.

Ashburton Investments

Ashburton, the investment management arm of the FirstRand Group, has strengthened its equity research capabilities by hiring Robert Lea as head of global equity research. He was previously a global equity research sector head and strategist at UBS.

The newly created global equity research team will provide analysis for the equity solutions range as well as Ashburton’s multi-asset strategy which has been running for over 30 years. Lea will head up the new team, with Jonathan Aldrich-Blake moving from his current role of investment manager at Ashburton to join the team.

Corporate, private client and funds business Hawksford has bolstered its corporate capabilities with the appointments of Stephanie Rose as global head of corporate services and Becci Newman as director.

Rose will lead corporate services globally partnering with the global heads of private client and funds to ensure a comprehensive approach across all offices and all service lines. Newman, who joins from Elian, and Daniel Hainsworth will jointly lead the corporate services team in Jersey.
