IFGL

International Financial Group has hired Theo Estié as group company secretary and legal counsel.

At IFGL – which owns RL360, RL360 Services and Ardan – Estié will be responsible for finalising the acquisition of Friends Provident International, which has been ongoing since March 2017, as well as implementing the enhanced corporate governance code.

Estié will be based on the Isle of Man after spending 17 years at Old Mutual South Africa.

Sanlam

The pan-African financial services group has hired a chief executive: brand. Sydney Mbhele will be joining Sanlam on 1 April 2019 and sit on the Sanlam Group executive committee.

Mbhele joins from the Liberty Group where he was chief marketing and communications officer. Previously, he also worked for Nedbank and SABMiller.

BNP Paribas AM

BNP Paribas Asset Management has appointed Katharina Anna Rost to its German office, where she will join the ETF and index fund solutions sales team and will be covering solutions in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.

She joins from HSBC Global Asset Management in Dusseldorf and has also work for Blackrock Investment Managers in Frankfurt.

ICG

Asset manager Intermediate Capital Group has named Jun Wooseok as the head of Asia Pacific, equity and mezzanine and as portfolio manager. He replaces Chris Heine who retired at the end of 2018.

Wooseok was previously head of Korea, equity and mezzanine for ICG since 2013.

Stonehage Fleming

The independent family-owned firm has appointed Glenn Murphy as chief operating officer within the investment management division.

Murphy will be responsible for improving the firm’s strategies and technology platforms. He joined the firm in November 2018 from Schroders, having previously worked for London & Capital, Cazenove Capital and Rathbones.

Vistra

Vistra, a global trust fund administration and corporate services provider, announced Clive Wright as managing director of its Jersey branch and Jane Pearce as managing director for the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.

Wright joins from Kleinwort Hambros after holding positions at HSBC, Deutsche Bank and the Royal Bank of Canada. Pearce will be working with Wright to drive further growth in Jersey.

Sanford DeLand

Rex Orton, the finance director of a private equity-backed construction company, has been appointed chairman of Sanford DeLand Asset Management’s board, following approval from the Financial Conduct Authority.

He also held a financial director position for 15 years at Latchways until the business was sold to MSA Safety.

Nedgroup Trust

The Nedgroup Trust has hired Daniel Bisson as managing director. The trust is based in the Channel Islands and is part of Nedbank Private Wealth. Bisson will be responsible for growing the international business across Jersey and Guernsey.

Bisson joins from Butterfield Trust after spending nine years at RBC Wealth Management International.

AIA

The Hong Kong-based investment firm has appointed Trevor Persaud as head of investment solutions. Persaud succeeds Benjamin Deng, who has joined Shanghai-based China Pacific Insurance.

Persaud was an independent consultant for the past year but has also worked for the Standard Chartered Bank and Prudential’s Singaporean business.
