PEOPLE MOVES: Saga, Old Mutual and RWC Partners

Two Old Mutual big hitters said they would step down from the business, while RWC Partners boosted its European distribution presence with a hire from Daiwa, one of the largest brokerage and financial services groups in Japan.

Saga

Old Mutual chairperson Patrick O’Sullivan is to take up a new position at British insurance company Saga, an insurance company focused on serving the needs of those aged 50 and over, with 2.7 million customers.

O’Sullivan will replace Andrew Goodsell as chairman of Saga.

He will step down from Old Mutual after the completion of its managed separation.

Old Mutual Wealth’s Richard Freeman will retire from the business at the end of June 2018.

Freeman is to focus on his own personal interests and he will continue to be active in the charity sector, where he currently chairs the development board of Dallaglio RugbyWorks.

Having served in the army for 16 years, Freeman started working in the financial services industry in 1989, initially as a financial adviser before embarking on management and executive roles.

Freeman was a founding director of Intrinsic in 2005. Together with Lord Sandy Leitch, he built Intrinsic into one of the UK’s leading advice businesses. As chief executive, he led the acquisition by Old Mutual Wealth in July 2014.

RWC Partners

RWC Partners has appointed Pierre Giannini to lead its continental Europe distribution.

Giannini previously led Japan-based Daiwa SB Investment’s business development efforts in southern and western Europe, where he focused on both institutional and wholesale channels.

Amundi

Amundi has appointed Alexandre Drabowicz as deputy head of equity investment platform, including European equity, volatility, convertible bonds, Japanese equity, and global equity. He reports to Diego Franzin, head of equity investment platform.

Prior to this role, Drabowicz was Amundi’s head of investment specialists on equities since 2014.

Manchester-based online financial advice platform, evestor, has appointed Sam Barton as chief customer officer.
Barton brings 17 years’ experience in the digital industry to his new position.

BNP Paribas Asset Management

BNPP AM has appointed Christophe Bonnefoux to the newly-created role of chief data officer. Based in Paris, he joined on 22 January and reports to Fabrice Silberzan, BNPP AM’s chief operating officer.

In this role, Bonnefoux will be responsible for data management, including determining the strategic direction of data integrity and quality, defining the data quality management framework, and promoting and leveraging the usage of data management tools.

Before joining BNPP AM, he worked for Arthur Andersen, Ernst & Young and Accenture Digital.

CISI

John Cubitt has been appointed president of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (Cisi) Northern Ireland Branch.

A chartered wealth manager with Cunningham Coates (part of Smith & Williamson group), Cubitt graduated from the Queen’s University of Belfast with a BSc in Economics and MSc in Finance. He is a chartered fellow of Cisi.
