Rathbones Asset Management

The asset manager has appointed Thomas Whitfield as the investment specialist for the Rathbone Multi-Asset Portfolio fund range.

He will be based in London and takes over from Craig Brown who recently assumed the new role of head of investment solutions and specialists at RAM.

Working with fund managers, David Coombs and Will McIntosh-Whyte and reporting to Brown, he will be responsible for shaping and delivering the investment messages for the multi-asset team.

Whitfield brings 13 years of financial services experience to role. He started his career at Brewin Dolphin in investment management, where he was part of a team managing discretionary portfolios for private clients and financial advisers.

He then moved into asset management, focusing on managing professional and institutional client relationships across London and the southeast of England, firstly at Sanlam Asset Management before moving to boutique asset manager Amati Global Investors.

Schroders

The firm has appointed Jamie Fowler as head of UK wealth within its asset management division.

In his new role, he will be responsible for serving intermediary investors across UK wealth management spanning advisers, wealth managers, family offices and discretionary investors.

Schroders’ product range for these investors includes unit trusts, Oeics, investment trusts, model portfolios and sub-advised mandates across all the major asset classes.

Fowler has been with Schroders for over 20 years, joining in 2002. He has worked extensively across Schroders’ regional channels, most recently as head of regional and advisory sales. He will report into Phil Middleton, Schroders’ head of UK.

Mirabaud

The firm has appointed David Smith as director, relationship manager, as the firm continues to grow its presence in the UK wealth management market.

Based in London and reporting to Stuart Bates, UK market head, Smith will be responsible for delivering tailored wealth management services to high-net-worth corporate executives and family business owners, resident in the UK. He brings more than 22 years of experience advising private clients on wealth.

Smith joins Mirabaud from RBC Wealth Management, where he served as a relationship manager providing bespoke wealth solutions to sophisticated high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

Rockwood Asset Management

Crux Asset Management founder Richard Pease has joined the firm’s Investment Advisory Group (IAG).

Pease has over 40 years fund management experience, having founded the Jupiter Asset Management European equities team in the 1990s. He founded Crux Asset Management in 2015, retiring in 2023 as the firm was acquired by Lansdowne Partners.

The IAG acts a source of advice and insight to Rockwood Strategic, the £102m UK smaller companies investment trust.

The group also includes Christopher Mills, Rupert Dyson, Jamie Brooke, Yuri Khodjamirian and Adam Parker.

Sparrows Capital

The firm has made a further hire to its distribution team with the hire of James Denton as a business development manager.

He joins from Foresight Group, where he was an executive business development manager.

The hire is the firm’s third BDM appointment so far this year, after Paul Fox and Michelle Liseli joined the firm in March.
