PEOPLE MOVES: Quintet PB, Beaufort Group, Stonehage Fleming

Private bank and retail financial services provider hire group COOs

Quintet Private Bank

Eli Leenaars will become group chief operating officer at the European private bank, effective from 1 June 2021.

The appointment has already received regulatory approval from both Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier and the European Central Bank.

He will join from UBS where he most recently served as group managing director and vice-president of global wealth management.

Beaufort Group

The Beaufort Group hired Jade Connolly as chief operating officer.

She will take over from Clive Goldthorpe who will step down at the end of March 2021. He will stay at the company on a consultancy basis but will no longer be involved in the day-to-day aspect of the business.

Connolly was previously at Ascot Lloyd where she held a range of senior operational roles.

Stonehage Fleming

The international family office named Andrew Clarke as group head of business development, based in London.

He will be tasked with leading the business development of the whole group.

Most recently, Clarke was executive director at international consultancy firm XY.

Sesame Bankhall Group

The appointed representative network has made two executive promotions.

Richard Howells will become chief operating officer to oversee the delivery of services to more than 11,000 advisers, with a focus on the group’s IT, digital and data systems.

He was previously managing director for the firm’s network.

Ross Liston, who is currently managing director of Bankhall and PMS Mortgage Club, will take on the role of managing director for distribution, which includes responsibility for the Sesame Network.

Rathbones

Chairman and director Mark Nicholls is going to retire.

As a result, Clive Bannister will take on the roles of chairman designate and non-executive director of the company.

Bannister will join the board immediately.

He will officially replace Nicholls after the conclusion of the 2021 annual general meeting on 6 May 2021, subject to regulatory approval.

Bannister was previously chief executive at Phoenix Group for nine years until March 2020, when he retired.

7IM

7IM’s head of portfolio management Haig Bathgate is going to leave the wealth management firm early this year.

He joined the firm in 2018, after 7IM acquired Edinburgh-based DFM Tcam.

A spokesperson for the firm told our sister publication Portfolio Adviser he will pursue “a new challenge”.

Taylor Wessing

The law firm has strengthened its international private wealth team with 11 hires.

The entire team joins from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner and it comprises of a mix of consultants, senior counsel, associates and a professional support lawyer.

The wider private wealth department now counts more than 100 lawyers enhancing the firm’s offering for ultra-high net worth individuals and families.

Brown Shipley

Rehana Hasan has become head of legal at Brown Shipley, based in London.

She joins from Tilney where she spent eight years as group general counsel and company secretary.

Aberdeen Standard Capital

Aberdeen Standard Capital named Tim Coverdale as senior business development manager.

He will be based in the firm’s Leeds office and will be responsible for developing and managing intermediary and introducer relationships in the north of England.

Coverdale was previously a regional relationship manager at 7IM for over 11 years.

Hawksford

Private client firm Hawksford hired Brian Belleine as a director of private client services, based in Jersey.

He will focus on developing relationships with intermediaries around the world.

Belleine joins from Butterfield where he served as regional head of trusts in Asia.
