Quilter
Quilter has appointed Mark Satchel, currently corporate finance director, as chief financial officer, effective from 13 March 2019.
Tim Tookey, currently CFO, will be stepping down from the board in March 2019. Satchel will join the firm’s board, subject to regulatory approval.
Purple Asset Management
Purple Asset Management, the Asian joint venture of The Fry Group and Independent Strategic Group (ISG), has appointed Gary Dugan as CEO.
Dugan joins the PAM team based in Singapore. He is responsible for growing the PAM business across Asia and the Middle East. Previously based in Dubai, he has relocated to Singapore.
He has more than 35 years’ experience in senior investment roles at JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Barclays and Coutts. Most recently, he was CIO for Namara Wealth Advisors in Dubai.
UBS Wealth Management
UBS Wealth Management has appointed Ann Qian and Fritz Chan to head up two new teams in its Chinese international operation, effective 1 January 2019.
Qian has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry. She joined UBS in 2007 as a client advisor and has been a desk head for the China international team since 2011.
Chan joined UBS in 2013 as a desk head for the China international team. Prior to UBS, Fritz was head of business management at Barclays Wealth.
Fidelity International
Fidelity International has promoted Steve Ellis to global chief investment officer of fixed income.
He will begin his new role on 1 January 2019, taking over from Charles McKenzie who will be retiring at the end of 2018. Ellis will report to Bart Grenier, global head of asset management.
Ellis joined Fidelity International in 2012 as emerging market debt (EMD) portfolio manager. Prior to joining Fidelity in 2012, he worked as a portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
Robeco
Dutch asset manager Robeco has appointed Ed Collinge as global head of insurance strategy.
Collinge previously worked at Invesco, where he led the European institutional insurance team.
In this newly created position, Collinge will work with Robeco’s client teams around the world on developing specific investment solutions for insurance clients.
He will report to Christoph von Reiche, head of global distribution and marketing.
Barclays Wealth Management
Barclays Wealth Management has appointed Peter Wagstaff, Chris Wade and Allister Hogg to its North East team, based in Newcastle.
Wagstaff joins from Coutts, where he worked for 20 years specialising in personal investments and wealth management.
Wade joins from Wesleyan Financial Services, where he worked as a financial consultant.
Hogg joins as a newly-qualified adviser following two years gaining experience in finance at True Potential. He is also a former rugby union professional, playing for Newcastle Falcons, and earned 48 international caps with the Scotland squad.
NBK Wealth Management
Middle East-based NBK Wealth Management has appointed Musaad Al-Sudairy as chief executive.
Al-Sudairy worked at Investcorp, where he was covering the Riyadh market and was responsible for placement and managing key relationships.
Legal & General Investment Management
Legal & General Investment Management has appointed Sonja Laud to the new role of deputy CIO, reporting to Anton Eser, CIO.
William Riley has also been appointed as head of solutions, reporting to Laud.
Laud has held senior investment management roles at Fidelity International, Barings, Schroders and DWS. Her most recent role was head of equity at Fidelity International.
Riley has held a number of senior portfolio management roles at Blackrock.
Barings
US-based investment management firm Barings has appointed Mandy Lui as head of wealth and retail distribution for Greater China and Southeast Asia.
She is responsible for managing sales, business development and client service.
Based in Hong Kong, she will report to Jon Millin, head of Asia-Pacific ex-Japan distribution.
Lui succeeds Edmund Chong, who has left the company. She was previously head of wholesale distribution for China, Hong Kong and Singapore at BNP Paribas Asset Management. She has also held management roles at Schroder Investment Management and Russell Investments in Hong Kong.
ProMeritum Investment Management
London-based ProMeritum Investment Management, the emerging markets fixed income manager focusing on Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA), has appointed James Marshall as director of local markets.
Marshall is primarily involved in the research and execution of the firm’s investment strategy in local markets, particularly sub-Saharan Africa.
Previously, he was a senior portfolio manager at Enko Capital Management.
Dolfin
Dolfin, the independent wealth management platform, has appointed Richard Gray as head of investment management, a newly-created role within the firm.
Gray joins Dolfin from ACPI, where he was co-head of institutional wealth management.
