Quilter Investors

The firm has expanded its manager research team with the addition of Alex Daniels as a manager research analyst.

Daniels joins from Bordier UK, where he was an investment analyst focusing on equity, fixed income and alternative funds within the firm’s research team for over four years.

He will be responsible for researching and analysing sector-specific and thematic equity funds, which will be considered for inclusion within Quilter Investor’s range of multi-asset portfolios such as WealthSelect and Cirilium. He will report to Kristian Cassar, head of manager research at Quilter Investors.

Daniels’ appointment comes following an expansion of the team in October when it hired Adrian Todd as a senior manager research analyst, focusing on alternatives.

Aviva Investors

Multi-asset portfolio manager Guillaume Paillat has left the firm after six years.

A spokesperson confirm he exited last month to take a role overseas in order to be closer to his family.

He is a named manager on the firm’s Multi-Asset Plus range, alongside co-managers Sunil Krishnan and Baylee Wakefield.

Aviva confirmed the process of its 40-strong multi-asset team will remain unchanged, with a co-manager approach taken on all of the firm’s strategies.

Premier Miton

The asset manager has hired Tatton’s Chris Robinson as MPS investment director, to work on the company’s recently-launched model portfolio service.

Robinson, who previously spent seven years as head of the investment specialist team at Tatton, will join Premier Miton’s multi-manager investment team, led by Ian Rees. Prior to joining 7IM, Robinson spent four years at Duncan Lawrie Private Banking as an investment research analyst.

Premier Miton’s new MPS, which was launched last month owing to increased demand from advisers, currently offers an Index range and a Blend range – both of which are actively-managed. Four portfolios reside in each range.

Orbis Investments

Marcel Bradshaw, head of UK retail, is set to retire at the end of the year after almost three decades in asset management.

Bradshaw joined Orbis in 2016 after a two year stint as sales director at Quilter’s international business.

Orbis has promoted Matthew Spencer to head of UK retail. He has been at the firm since 2008, most recently leading Orbis’s investment counsellor team which is responsible for servicing institutional clients and investment consultants.

The firm said Spencer will continue to focus on UK advisers as well as exploring opportunities to further expand Orbis’ reach to a broader UK client base.

Morningstar

Director of manager research Matias Möttölä has exited the firm after 14 years.

In a LinkedIn post, Möttölä announced he was taking up a role at the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority as a senior supervisor in the regulator’s capital markets department.

He joined Morningstar in 2010 as a fund analyst based in Finland.

Columbia Threadneedle

UK fund manager Jonathan Barber has left his position after near 30 years with the firm.

Barber was lead fund manager of the CT Monthly Extra Income fund and the CT UK Monthly Income fund, which as of 30 June are managed by Dominic Younger who is currently deputy manager.

Matt Rees replaced Barber as manager of the CT Managed Equity Income fund. There will be no change in the investment approach across the funds.

RBC BlueBay Asset Management

European high yield head Justin Jewell has exited after 15 years.

Jewell has managed portfolios at RBC BlueBay since 2009 and has run a number of the firm’s high yield strategies, including the $1.6bn SICAV BlueBay Global High Yield Bond fund.

RBC BlueBay confirmed that managing director for head of securitised credit & CLO management Sid Chhabra’s responsibilities will extend to lead the European high yield team, replacing Jewell.
