Geoff Cook takes on consultancy role at UK investment manager

Quilter Cheviot

Jersey Finance’s former chief executive Geoff Cook has become a consultant at UK investment manager Quilter Cheviot.

He will help support the firm’s international client growth strategy.

Cook was with Jersey Finance for 12 years. Prior to this, he was head of wealth management for HSBC.

Rowan Dartington

The St James’s Place wealth subsidiary has named Mark Leather as chief risk officer.

He is responsible for the strategic leadership of the firm’s risk and compliance functions.

Leather has over 21 years’ experience the sector, and previously spent over seven years as the group compliance director at Old Mutual Wealth (now Quilter).

He replaces Clare Holt, who has joined St James’s Place and is therefore staying within the group.

Indosuez Wealth Management

Pierre Masclet has been named deputy chief executive.

He will oversee the business development of the wealth management operation and will join the WM management committee.

Based in France, Masclet has 27 years’ experience at the firm.

Butterfield

Daniel Frumkin, group chief operating officer, has stepped down from his post at the Bermudian wealth manager.

Frumkin has agreed to continue to be available to the firm’s senior management team to ensure a seamless transition.

As a result of this departure, Michael Neff, managing director of Bermuda, will lead the Company’s international trust business, and Richard Saunders, managing director of Channel Islands, will assume responsibility for international corporate banking.

Michael McWatt, managing director of Cayman Islands, will manage operations for Bermuda and Cayman.

Michael Schrum, group chief financial officer, will oversee corporate development and information technology.

Allianz Global Investors

The active investment manager has appointed Beatrix Anton-Groenemeyer as chief sustainability officer.

Anton-Groenemeyer is currently global head of product specialists for fixed income at AllianzGI.

In her new role, she will report to Andreas Utermann, chief executive of AllianzGI.

Credit Suisse

The Swiss banking group has appointed Tan Mae Shen as senior specialist of family office services Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong.

This news comes as the firm established the wealth planning services operation for Greater China.

Tan reports to Thomas Ang, head of family office services Asia Pacific.

She is responsible for providing dedicated family office services coverage for Greater China clients, partnering with relationship managers, their clients’ family members and stakeholders.

She joined the Credit Suisse family office services Asia Pacific team in 2017, based in Singapore, where she worked with business families across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, China and Middle East to build family governance and family office solutions.

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)

The education body has hired Karen Ashcroft as global director of finance.

Prior to joining the CISI, Ashcroft was head of finance and company secretary with GAN London.

Brewin Dolphin

The UK wealth manager has named Adrien Landreau and Paul Bentley as wealth directors.

Landreau joins from private bank Banque Transatlantique, where he focused on resident non-domiciled high net worth families, entrepreneurs and senior executives in London’s financial sector.

Bentley joins from Kleinwort Hambros, where he was head of entrepreneurs.

Close Brothers Asset Management

The banking group has bolstered its high net worth (HNW) investment team in Scotland with the appointment of Christopher Godfrey-Faussett as managing director.

Based in Edinburgh, Godfrey-Faussett will support the ongoing expansion of CBAM’s presence in Scotland.

He has 27 years’ experience in financial services, managing investments for private clients, trusts and charities.

Scottish Financial Enterprise

The representative body for the financial services industry in Scotland has hired Philip Grant of Lloyds Banking Group as its chairman.

Grant’s role will be in addition to his position as chairman of LBG’s Scottish executive committee with responsibility for the group in Scotland.

He is also managing director of customer and business risk of the insurance and wealth division of LBG, which includes Scottish Widows.

Grant will take over the role of SFE chairman from Jim Pettigrew, who is stepping down after serving his full three-year term.

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA)

Jonathan Evans will become chair of the trade body.

BIBA’s outgoing chair David Hunt tenure ends in December 2019.

Evans is a former insurance minister and also previously chaired All-Party Parliamentary Group on insurance.

He served two decades as an MP and MEP and has a background as a solicitor specialising in insurance law. He will take up the position of chair in January 2020.

It has also named Caroline Barr as non-executive director.

She is a former civil servant, who has a commercial background in financial services.
