PEOPLE MOVES: Quilter, Brooks Macdonald, M&G

Multiple appointments at Quilter and Brooks Macdonald

Quilter

Quilter has added three new investment directors.

Ryan Medlock and Filipo Madonia both join from Royal London, while Nick Davison has arrived from Liontrust.

Medlock was most recently a senior investment development manager at Royal London, where he worked closely with advisers. Madonia worked for Royal London’s asset management arm as a business development manager, working with advisers and discretionary fund managers in Scotland.

Davison was a regional sales manager for Liontrust, working across the North of England and Northern Ireland. All three will report into lead investment director, Andy Miller.

Brooks Macdonald

Brooks Macdonald has made four notable appointments.

The firm has promoted Richard Larner, head of research, and senior portfolio director Michael Toolan to co-CIO roles to succeed the outgoing Edward Park.

The duo have been at Brooks Macdonald for a combined 35 years. Park is due to exit the firm later this year following a handover period.

Philip Glaze, currently an external member of the committee, will become chair of Brooks Macdonald’s investment committee.

Meanwhile, Mark O’Connor has been appointed to the newly created role of managing director for the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

O’Connor has been with the firm for over 10 years, most recently as currently head of international investment management.

The firm is moving to focus on its two distribution channels, direct to private clients and via financial advisers, rather than around geographies. As part of this change, Richard Hughes has stepped down from the role of international CEO.

M&G Investments

The firm has appointed Emmanuel Deblanc as chief investment officer to lead its private markets business.

Deblanc has over 25 years of experience, most recently at Allianz Global Investors where he led and developed its private markets capability. Prior to this, he spent nine years at BNP Paribas where, as co-head of its debt advisory and financing team.

He will join on 14 March 2024, based in London and reporting to CEO Joseph Pinto.
