PEOPLE MOVES: Pimco, Brewin Dolphin, T. Rowe Price

A senior management shift has seen Pimco poach its new chief executive from Man Group. Brewin Dolphin has named two divisional directors, while T. Rowe Price has created a new head of strategic partners role.

Pimco

Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Roman has left Man Group to become the new chief executive of Pimco. Roman became chief executive of Man Group in 2013, having been appointed chief operating officer in 2010 after Man Group acquired his previous firm GLG Partners.

Pimco’s current chief executive, Douglas Hodge, will assume the new role of managing director and senior adviser when Roman joins Pimco in November.

Brewin Dolphin

The independent private client wealth managers has appointed Louise Shaw and Nicholas Regan as divisional directors in its London office.

Regan has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector, and joins Brewin Dolphin from BNP Paribas where he was head of Asian equities in Europe. He previously held a similar role at Credit Suisse, prior to starting his career in fund management.

Shaw joins Brewin Dolphin after nine years at Kleinwort Benson where she was a client director.

T. Rowe Price

Global asset management firm T. Rowe Price has added Matthew Jenkins to its UK intermediary team in the newly-created position of head of strategic partners. He joins from Neptune Investment Management, where he has been since 2007, latterly as head of advisory sales and strategic partners. Prior to Neptune, Jenkins held roles at MetLife and Scottish Widows.

Jenkins will spearhead the firm’s relationships with platforms, life companies, fund ratings agencies and large national advisory firms, as the group looks set to unveil its Oeic fund range in the coming months.

UK government

Newly appointed prime minister Theresa May has poached Legal & General’s corporate affairs director John Godfrey, naming him a director of policy in her special adviser team.

Prior to L&G, Godfrey held roles at Lehman Brothers and Daiwa Capital Markets. He also worked in the Home Office and unsuccessfully stood for parliament in Scotland in the 1990s.

Australian Financial Services Council

Geoff Lloyd, chief executive and managing director of Perpetual Ltd, has been unanimously elected chairman of the FSC. He replaces Greg Cooper, chief executive of Schroder Investment Management Australian.

Annabel Spring, group executive of CBA Wealth Management, has been appointed co-deputy chair, filling the role left vacant by Lloyd’s appointment.

IAM Advisory

The independent investment advisory firm has strengthened its board with the appointment of two directors – William Kay and Simon Bowden.

Bowden, who is based in Guernsey, joined IAM Advisory in 2003. As well as heading up a number of client portfolio relationships, he is also a member of the investment committee heading up fixed income and foreign exchange research.

Kay, previously an associate director, has also been appointed to the board and is based in IAM Advisory’s Jersey office. Kay is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Jersey Funds Association

Mike Byrne has been named the new chairman of the Jersey Funds Association (JFA), the trade body representing the island’s funds industry. Byrne, a partner at PwC Channel Islands, is joined by Tim Morgan, partner at Mourant Ozannes, who will serve a second term as vice chair.
