Openwork Holdings

The parent company of financial advice network Openwork has promoted Andy Smart to chair.

He is currently chair of Openwork Limited, which is the main regulated subsidiary, and heads Openwork Holdings Limited’s risk and compliance committee.

Smart was part of the Zurich Global Life team, which created Openwork in 2005.

He succeeds Christopher Rodrigues who is stepping down after six years.

Brown Shipley and Quintet

The UK-based private bank, part of Quintet, has named Michael Cole-Fontayn as chair of the board of directors, subject to regulatory approval.

He spent over 35 years at BNY Mellon covering several senior positions, with his latest being chair and chief executive of the firm’s Emea business.

Cole-Fontayn succeeds Rory Tapner who has been promoted to chair of Quintet Private Bank.

Tapner replaces Jan Maarten de Jong, who is retiring after having served as a board member for three decades, having been chair since 2015.

Square Mile

The investment consulting and research firm has recruited Jake Moeller as a senior investment consultant.

He was previously head of UK and Ireland for fund ratings agency Lipper for over six years, which was originally owned by Thomson Reuters and now Refinitiv.

His hire follows the departure of Square Mile’s director of research and consulting Victoria Hasler at the end of April.

The Pensions Ombudsman

Alex Robertson will become the UK Pensions Ombudsman’s chief operating officer, effective from 29 June 2020.

He joins from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, where he has been executive director for strategy and operations since January 2018.

Robertson will be responsible for the Ombudsman’s transformation programme and operations, communications, strategy and insight functions.
